Did you know that Tripawd dogs should take shorter, more frequent walks? Rehab vets tell us that a Tripawd in top shape should walk no more than 15 or 20 minutes at a time. Taking shorter walks a few times a day is far better and safer than one or two long walks.

And do you know what's just as interesting?

Now you can take a walk with your pets and raise funds for the Tripawds Foundation, just by taking your smart phone along and logging into the Walk for a Dog app.

Walk for a Dog is a great tool to make sure you don't overdo walks with your Tripawd. It tracks your distance walked, the time it takes, and generates your speed (mph) for each walk.

Walk For A Dog

The Walk for a Dog program donates money to an animal shelter, rescue, or other charitable organization of your choosing every time you walk your dog—or cat!

No matter how short of a walk, the Tripawds Foundation can receive donations via Wooftrax. The number of people walking for any given organization and the number of walks they take are the primary factors Wooftrax uses in calculating their donations. Distance is also factored in but is not as important, which is great news for our three-legged family members!

To download the free Wooftrax app,
visit the Tripawds Foundation blog.

Jasper Lily (not a tripawd but a tripawd supporter) and I are definitely getting our walks in even MORE now with our fancy app! Jasper is happy she's getting 2 mile walks a day (yes, I know she needs more) and I am happy to fundraise for the Tripawds nation!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Two miles? Wow that's great! Every step counts and for those quad-pawds who can go further than a 3-legger, we are super duper grateful!!!!

I wanted to 'bump' this back to the front! I love data (and as a fundraiser, data really is my life) and I have logged 51 miles with Jasper Lily since I downloaded the app in January. Jasper (a quadpawd) averages 2 - 2.5 miles a day and having this app and doing good helps hold us accountable.

Is it ruff to get up when it is dark to get that mile+ in? Yup but what's even ruffer is our fur-babies that are facing cancer and the fear of the unknown when becoming a Tripawd so we trek on!

As the days stay light later ... our walks become longer and our mission to help the Tripawds Foundation remains our first goal and thought!

So be sure to download the app and start walking! Our babies need us!

I'll be getting more in once the time changes. Hmmmm - wonder if they'd let me count my horse's miles? :-)

Spirit Shooter was a Miniature Australian Shepherd who was diagnosed with a MCT and had a LF amp 1/28/13 at 13-1/2 years old.

Shooter crossed the Bridge on 8/28/13, his 7 month ampuversary and two weeks from his 14th birthday.

Aww thank you Alison! And everypawdy who is using the app. I have to admit that we were not big on carrying our phone around until we heard about the app. Now we're never without it, which can be a good thing!

As of yesterday 10 people using the Walk for a Dog app had walked 633 times for a total of 706.1 miles!! Woohoo you guys!! Fear the Ears just wore out another pair of shoes walking the OP for the Tripawds Foundation !! He has walked our 4 dawgs 255 times for 267.5 miles since late last yearclap. Don't furget, it doesn't matter so much how many miles you walk. The number of people walking and the number of times they walk are more important. So who wants to join us and share in the fun?! Start wearing out those shoes!

And Luanne, I would think you could use it while riding your horse. And for any runners or bikers out there too,  The app will turn off it senses you are going too fast (like if you start to canter on a horse or are riding a bike) but on the Walk page, if you tap the page where it says Walking, you get a page where you can switch the type of activity you are doing from walking to biking or running.

Wow that's some walking! Thanks for the reminder to use the app. You guys are rockin!

Hey is anypawdy having trouble with the app? It's been acting weird on our phone lately, like not tracking our route or starting then stopping without tracking anything.
