Today we celebrate Trouble's 18 month ampuversary - what a ride! It is a journey we didn't want to embark upon, but one we learned to navigate as each new obstacle was thrown into the path. For the most part, Trouble has been the leader - she is allowed to try just about anything she thinks she can handle (with the exception of jumping - I restrict her jumping as much as possible).
The day she was diagnosed, I never dreamed we would see 18 months. Trouble was sent home from her diagnosing vet with a death sentence. The vet didn't believe she was a candidate for amputation because she was overweight. She sent me home with a large bottle of Tramadol and instructions to love her and keep her happy - she has 2 - 3 months.
She had her second opinion evaluation the next day. We were encouraged to do the amputation - the only way to stop the pain. We trusted this wonderful man and he has lead us down the path for the last 18 months.
Along with Dr F's guidance, we've found this wonderful Tripawd family to give us courage, hope, and understanding. We are truly blessed.
Trouble is starting to struggle with arthritis and we will work through that in the coming weeks.
Trouble is my courage, my strength, my friend. That she can offer others hope from this horrible disease is a joy in my heart.
Happy Ampuversary, my beautiful friend.

Congrats, Gus is 7 weeks today and I sure hope I see 18 months. right now he is doing great, but we opted for no chemo, so I'm not sure what the future will bring. I agree, the ride isn't smooth, but worth it for our buddies. Paws up, have a great day, Gus and Dan
My buddy Gus had a left front amputation on April 7, 2010 and lived a great life until July 26,2010
congrats on 18 months, that's GREAT!! many more!!!

Love Never Ends
Trouble,
Dad and I are so very happy to see you celebrating you 18 month ampuversary. I am sure that your Mom is glad that she was persistent and would not give up on you so quickly. You are encouragement for each and every one starting this battle. One can have a great life even after this diagnosis.
Be sure to have a great PAWRTY - extra hugs, extra play time, extra special treats, and of course ICE CREAM. Dad says that we will be celebrating vicariously and he will give a special toast to our long term survivor - Trouble.

ps how cool is it that trouble's ampuversary is on the same day as the 1 year "anniversary" of the day we found out Jack had cancer? aren't our pups neat?!?!?

Amazing! I loved watching the videos since I hadn't seen them! I'm with Dad - I see no reason why Trouble shouldn't live to ripe old age!
