Recently added new family member, she had her rear leg removed up to the hip 5 months ago, I've had her a month, she cries out sometimes, vet said phantom pain , how long does this last?
She doesn't try to use her remaining leg to attempt to jump on or even try to get on a chair or lap, should I encourage her more or just let her do it in her own time

Welcome and best wishes for your girl. Click any phantom pain link to find many articles, videos and interviews with helpful information about identifying and treating phantom pain .

We – and any rehab therapist – will discourage jumping for any Tripawd. Impact on remaining limbs causes damage over time. There are many starter exercises you can do to help improve strength an minimize the damage.

Thank you! I understand about the jumping. I will research the phantom pain and will be patient, she is such a sweet potato!
