Does your three legged friend have a prosthetic limb? Is he or she currently getting fit for one? If so we want to hear from you. And so does PBS!

We have been speaking with folks from a production company working on an upcoming episode of Nature, who are working on an upcoming episode abut animal prosthetics . We are hoping to put them in touch with people who have pets they may be able to profile. here's what they have to say...

"I am writing for Pangolin Pictures, a production company based in NYC  focused on producing documentaries for television. We are currently collecting possible stories we can feature in an episode of PBS Nature we are putting together on animal prosthetics , titled "Beaks, Fins, Flippers and Tails of Hope." The show will be centered around the stories of various animals who have received and/or are in the process of receiving prosthetics , their owners and the effects prosthetics have on the animals lives'. PBS Nature is one of the longest-running WNET programs and has won several Emmy and Peabody awards over the years. More information, and several episodes we've produced in the past, can be found on their site: http://www.pbs......et/nature/ (the most recent being "Private Life of Deer")

We are looking for both stories of outstanding animals with huge wills to survive, who have endured a lot on the road to getting their prosthesis AND a new story of a pet that is about to get a prosthesis, that we can follow over the course of several shoots across a couple of months."

Please reply to this post or contact us directly if you fit this description, or know of somebody who may.

Please ask your veterinarians if they may know of possible candidates for this story.

We will pass along any potential stars for this show to the producers so they can contact you directly.

Thank you! Any questions?

PS: Nature fans may recall a certain episode featuring Jerry.

Jill is a 9-year-old tuxedo kitty. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in June 2012 on her toe in her right hind leg. Her leg was amputated on 12/12/12 and she completed four rounds of chemo (2 of Carbo, 2 of Doxy) in April 2013. I am attempting to adopt a tripawd, pending adoption approval, and will be looking towards a prosthetic leg, since the little guy has from his hock up in the rear. :) Please, wish us prayers for the adoption and good luck in our journey!

Hi there--

Three months ago I adopted a two year old Siberian Husky who'd been hit by a car in the past, but her previous owners neglected medical attention. The result is a useless front leg that drags and folds at the elbow as she tries to use it. A ligament in her rear knee was also torn, but we had surgery two months ago and she's doing well.

I've been looking into prosthetic options, but it's currently looking like a full scapular amputation will be the best course of action. We have yet to set a surgery date, but are planning to do it sometime in the next two months.

If you're looking for a dog to compare and contrast the process/recovery of amputation & prosthetics , I'd love to help. I know great strides are being done in ortho and wish it was a better option for "Chilly." Glad you're bringing the newer technologies into the public view. Let us know if we can add to the conversation.

FYI: Chilly is a 2-3 year old female husky, 38 lbs, strikingly beautiful, and so exceptionally chill & loving that I'm currently training her to be a therapy dog for a local Children's hospital. Tripods have an almost magical affect on people.

Best of luck with the show!

Thank you so much for responding. I believe the producers have found the examples they're going to use but it's always good to have extra stories. And of course we love hearing about them too, so thank you for sharing Chilly's story here.

Be sure to hop on over to the Forums more often and let us know how she's doing, we're here to help and cheer her on.
