We have been keeping Radar separate from the other dogs (except his gentle mother) until he was stronger.  Radar was alpha dog (other than myself) and I worried about the other boys challanging him in his weakened state or the young girl playing too boisterously with him.

I am happy to say that not only has Radar been returned to the pack fully without incident but also the other dogs still give him the same space and respect they did before.  It's like nothing ever happened in their eyes.

Normally when I let the dogs out they all race across the property around the fence line and to the opposite corner checking for any invading critters that may have come on the property (these are hunting dogs).  This morning when I let them out Radar was right there with them all the way across the yard.  If you didn't see the missing leg you would have never known it.  He is back to his happy boy self and I sometimes have to remind myself of his handicap because for us too it is very easy to feel like nothing was ever wrong with him.

For any new tripawd parents visiting this site:  Remember that dogs don't know the meaning of the word handicapped.

Connie & Radar,

It is so encouraging to hear that Radar has resumed his spot in the pack.  I'm glad he has his old energy again and I can't wait to hear more updates on his progress.

We will keep you in our prayers,

Blazer, Kimber & Vicki T
