Handsome dude.  Good luck in recovery.  If you have any questions, hit us up or join us in the chatroom some night.

Adelaide is a young tripawd Husky, from an injury.  Her amp was on 10/1/12.  She has 4 sisters, Aissa (a senior border collie/chow), Maggie May (a puppy Great Pyrenees), Mathilde and Morrigan and 1 baby brother, Bagheera.  We are all watched over by our angel Brendol, who was dx with OSA 1/30/13, amp on 2/6/13, and left us on 8/20/13.

Sorry you had to join the Tripawd Nation under such circumstances Rexo. But the upside is.....we got your back! Thank you for your years of service and it looks like you are heading in to a grrrrrreat retirement. You are still gonna be able to do all kinds of stuff to keep busy. Just because a K9 retires doesn't mean he won't still need a job! If you poke around here you will find tripawds doing agility, hunting, nosework, sheep herding, and more!

He's doing so good and I'm doing better than I thought I would.  Nurse said he couldn't figure out how to stand last night and all of a sudden he got it.  He even jumped and put his front paw on the counter because he smelled some food.  I'm so proud of him.

Well Rexo, I'm sorry you had to lose your leg but there are far worse things in life. You now have a chance to fight and have a wonderful, pain free life. It matters not how long, just how good it is. Recovery can be a little difficult at first but once they get the hang of it then there's no holding them back. Rexo is a strong boy and he'll get through this as long you are right there with him. Good luck, buddy; we're here for you.

Maverick is a wonderful miniature australian shepard born with a malformation of the front right radius/ulna, amputation performed on 11/4/13 at 6 months old. Follow his story at mavericksjourney.tripawds.com.

Sweet Rexo! Looks like your people got it down with the no-slip flooring and the raised bowls. You sure look good! And I know that German Shedder fur will grow in in no time.

3-Paws Up to you and your people!

1 week post surgery!!  Rexo is doing well.  Just had a visit with my regular vet and she's excited on how well he's doing and talked to the surgeon and the tests on his limb came back great.  I was told that the amputation was all he would need.

Good boy, Rexo!  Livin' the dream!  Ain't it grand to be able to be proud of our dogs for figuring out simply how to be themselves again - even their naughty self?  My first real sigh of relief with Yoda was when he chased a fly all around the house, which was a week post amputation, I think.  Then there was the park visit where he found a dog he could mount, when I had thought that embarrassing behavior was gone for good.  (He basically mounted the air above an oblivious Corgi mix, so maybe it doesn't count).  The next big triumph that I waited and waited for was when he was when he re-learned how to chase his tail on three legs.  Took him 3 months.  He had relearned everything else so fast, I wasn't expecting I'd ever seem him go after that tail again.  I just know I posted my excitement after, haha.  So sooooooo proud!

Wishing Rexo many more such victories! clap
