Today we celebrate a special 2 month milestone. Paris, our 4 yr old Lab is doing well. She is approaching Chemo #3, Carboplatin next week. Her recent labs are "pristine" as stated by our vet. She is playful and active. She appears to be pain free and off all meds now. I am very thankful for every moment we have her, she is such a sweet spirited dog.
We are feeding her Instinct grain free food, adding green beans, carrots, scrambled eggs or canned mackerel. She has maintained her weight even though she had a tendency to gain weight pre-amputation. We have not used a harness, she has adapted to getting in the car and has done the upstairs since the second night. Over the past 2 weeks she is also jumping in the bed with us!
I have so much gratitude to Jerry, because of him his parents decided we needed Tripawds. Thanks for all the encouragement, the sharing of all the stories and experience. That is what helps us all cope.
The sun is out and we are almost at 60 degrees today, I think we'll take a short walk this afternoon. We are glad to see spring approaching here in northern Indiana!!
Loving my girl one day at a time...............

Grateful for every moment we had with Paris…..no regrets!
Honoring her life by opening our hearts & home to Addy!
Yay Paris! Hoppy 2-month ampuversary! We are so happy to hear that everything is going so well for her. Nova did great on the Carboplatin too and is approaching her 4-month milestone next week. Tomorrow we're going for post-chemo chest x-rays, keep the paws crossed!
Can Paris actually go up a flight of stairs? Can she go down? Nova has not been interested in doing more than 3-4 stairs. I've got her on a grain-free food (Evo) just like Paris. We haven't used a harness either, I still have my Ruffwear harness with the tags still on it. Jumping in bed, how awesome! I was happy too when Nova started to jump in bed with me again.
You're right, Tripawds is a wonderful place to find support and encouragement. Jerry, Rene, Jim, Dr. Pam (Tazzies Mom) and all the terrific pawrents... I can't even imagine having done this without them.
Enjoy that great weather, we are doing the same, as it's nice and warm here in Michigan too.
Great Dane kisses from Nova!

Sue & Nova,
Thanks for the wonderful message! Yes she does the stairs, 15 total, they are carpeted. Going up she did on her own immediately, going down we held on to her the first 2 weeks until she learned the best way down. Paris had walked for almost 2 months before surgery on 3 legs, so she had practice.
Thanks again and good luck on the x-rays, we will have our paws crossed!!

Oh Paris!!! We are so glad to hear that you are doing well. Max and I agree that spring will make us ALL feel better. Its been a LONG winter! We took a walk yesterday too!
I am also feeding Max a grain free food and am just now trying to figure out what else to add besides the fish oil and flaxseed. Theres so much information about the "proper" thing to do. Wrigley's mom went to a holistic vet and got a bunch of info for Wrig and shared it with me. Her vet also recommended a vet here (schaumburg) that is really up on things too, so Im considering having a consutation with her. We are about an hour and a half away.
Give Paris some hugs for us. So glad she is doing GREAT!! She is such a pretty girl!
Sue and Nova...we too have our paws crossed for you!! best of luck with the x-rays!
