Hi all! It's been a while since I've posted anything, mostly beacuse Calamity is well, happy & back to her normal, bad girl, self!
Some of you might remember that I also have a littermate of her's, a brother, Morgan. Morgan loves his sister & although they were separated for around 3 years while racing at different tracks, when they came back together it was like they were little pups once again. There is no doubt in my mine that they remember one another & and I often wonder if they were really twins in the same sac in utero the are so much alike! LOL!!
Now to the irony~Monday noght the twins decided to get crazy in my mud filled backyard~they are white dogs~so I decided to hose them down before I let them back in the house. Morgan first, Calamity watched & set her mind that she was having no part of a hosing & tried to elude me. I decided to open the door to let Morgan in knowing that she would follow her brother, Well, the screen door caught Morgans tail & de-gloved the end of it. He was without fur on the last 6" portion of his tail~messy! I got him cleaned, wrapped & gave him some pain meds & started an antibiotic. Poor (HA!) Calamity had to stay outdoors while all of this transpired then she got her hosing off & got to come in.
Yestersay morning Morgan got the last 7" of his tail amputated & is doing great! I've seen tons of greyhounds with tail amps & had to amp a couple when I ran the adoption kennel at the Woodlands so I knew this was going to be a breeze.
Through all of the emotional part of this I had to smile & think how ironic that Morgan had to have an amputation too! Like sister, like brother!
Janie & Calamity: Morgan, Trigger, Kade & Munchie too!

It's great to hear from you Jane!
We're happy yo hear Calamity is doing well. Sorry about Morgan's tail – "degloved" just sounds so painful, and yes, messy. I guess it won't grow back like a lizard's?
PS: We've moved this topic here to the Share Your Story forum, as it is more applicable for updates like this. Thanks for checking in!
