TATE ~ Forever in our hearts.

So we Finally! got the biopsy back--it's a hemangio-pericytoma--low grade. Rare or low likelihood of spreading, but since the biposy showed cells close to the margins, chances are 60-40 in favor of it coming back. My vet did not recommend amputation since Jingo is 12 1/2 (yes I know some older dogs have done it) and since it's on the front leg which would mean putting more pressure on her aged back legs (although she runs and hops like a puppy!)Â
I wonder if we should have amputated--my husband was dead-set against it. I guess now it's a wait and see thing.Â
I love my vet (known him 30 years) I trust him and he was as agressive as he could be give the location of the tumor (on Jingo's elbow.)
I think I'm going to blow off radiation and just let my dear, energetic, sweet Jingo live out however long she has.
Thanks to everyone here-and my good thoughts are with all of you--
That sounds like a great idea to me! FWIW, at her age and the likely of it not spreading, well, I'd do the same as you are 🙂
Tracy, Maggie's Mom
Maggie was amputated for soft tissue sarcoma 10-20-09
Maggie lost her battle with kidney disease on 8-24-13
Having a vet you can trust like that is so hard to find. That plan sounds like the best one for Jingo and your pack. Even though Jingo won't be a Tripawd, we'd still love to hear from you so we can find out how she's doing so don't be a stranger ya hear?! Much love to Jingo 🙂
