Hi all,
So, I was looking to get my rear leg amputee some wheels to aid his mobility and I don't know if anyone can recommend a manufacturer? I am in the UK so would need to be shipped if necessary.
I also wondered how quickly dogs adapt to using wheels, as I can imagine my dog will fuss and struggle when I put the wheels on him!
He has part of his pelvis removed as well as his leg so I don't know if this will have any bearing on the type of frame he will need?
Any advice gratefully received!

I'm in the UK too, and am also currently exploring this on the advice of my rehab vet. In our case, it would be a case of having the wheels in reserve for if/when Meg injures/strains her remaining front leg, so she can still exercise the rest of her, and also gradually acclimatising her to them, as she probably will end up needing them more in the longer term.
The manufacturer everybody seems to recommend is Eddie's Wheels, who are based in the US but do ship to the UK.
Can I ask if you have seen a rehab vet or physio with regard to this? Is Oakley experiencing particular mobility problems which you are hoping the wheels might help with?

The one Cassie's rehab vet recommended was Walkin' Wheels and they can be found on Handicappedpets.com. What she likes about them is that they are adjustable, not a customized wheelchair , so you can buy one and adjust it to the size you need. It also helps with re-sale, which means you can buy them used on sites like ebay (they even have links on their site). The price is under $400 us, which is way less than a custom one. We just got one for Cassie on ebay for $175 us. We've only tried it once, though, because then we got a bunch of snow. We did need longer struts & bigger wheels than what came with it (the previous owner had a corgi), but it was no problem ordering the parts online from Walkin' Wheels.

Murphy had his right front leg amputated due to histiocytic sarcoma at 7 years old. He survived 4 years, 2 months & 1 week, only to be taken by hemangiosarcoma at 11 1/2 years 6/12/17
