We have a 42 pound standard poodle, only two years old diagnosed with a high grade sarcoma, type not know as yet, it presented in his left hip, he had a hemi-pevectonmy and amputation. He is still hopsitalized but the vet thinks he may have gotten clearn margins. We have him on k9 immunity, essiac tea, tumeric, astragalus, dandelion and fishoil, but am not sure of the rigth amts of each and whether or not they interact negatively with each other. Am looking for somwone with knowledge of dosages and supplements most effective. Any help would be greatly appreciated, we are devastated. This is my daughter's dog and she is distraught.
Hi Breezy16, thank you so much for joining us here. We are truly sorry about your poodle, he is so young. That's great that the vet is optimistic about the surgery. We hope your pup gets well soon.
About the supplements. . . where did you do your research about them? Just curious.
Many of those supplements are things that others here have tried. We had Jerry on K9 Immunity, and we truly believe that it contributed to his longveity. You can do a search for it in the blog or the forums and see what we and others think about it.
Are you able to consult with a holistic practitioner? Check our Resources Page and scroll down to about the middle to find resources for Holiistic Practitioners.
Even if there isn't a holistic practitioner in your area, you can possibly consult with them on the phone. You are wise to ask about dosages and interactions, and it would be best if you worked with an expert who has a real understanding of your pup's physiology and most recent lab results. That's what we recommend. Also, you may want to post this in the “Ask a Vet” discussion area of the Forums here.
We send our pawsitive energy and well wishes your way. If you have any other questions or just want to talk, we are here for you OK? Good luck.

Are you going to do chemo? If you are then I would consult your oncologist, since some antioxidants can inhibit the way chemo drugs work. I know that fish oil and K9 Immunity should be okay to start now but I am unsure about the others. I agree that it would be wise to consult a holistic vet.
