Bob, what a wonderful post!
I've been there when you have spoken of Miss Cherry, your bond with her is what many of us strive to achieve.
You have been a wonderful support for so many of us and the guy that all of the dogs in the dog park love! That's because they know you always have a treat stashed somewhere!
We shall have ice cream this weekend and think of Miss Cherry and the pawrents who love her so much.
The chauffeur
Bob, I'm coming a little late into this but I just wanted to say that we did celebrate in honor of Miss Cherry this weekend without even realizing it. We went to San Simeon with Mackenzie (one of our favorite ocean spots) and she got to swim in the ocean for the first time since her amputation. It was so fantastic to see her swimming and loving every moment of it. I will always cherish this memory and will remember your words about celebrating life - this is exactly what we did. I bet that Spirit Cherry was behind it too.
So here's to Spirit Cherry, ice cream and the celebration of life!
Kami & Mackenzie
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
Bob, I'm also late responding to this post - I had been visiting my sisters over the weekend so am just catching up now. Funny, my sisters and I celebrated our time together with some ice cream! Holly and Zuzu and I just enjoyed some ice cream in Miss Cherry's honor. We will always think of her when we enjoy ice cream - it's her legacy to us! You are so wonderful to remind us always to feed our dog's spirits and that has come to be as important in my mind as anything the vet and oncologist can do for Holly. So, during this week of thanksgiving - I am so thankful to you for sharing your journey with Miss Cherry. It has inspired us in many ways.
Thanks, Bob! And thanks Spirit Cherry!
Hugs,
Holly, Zuzu and Susan
Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!
