Im so very sorry to learn that Bella has passed. I vividly remember the video you posted of Bella playing ball just a week post op. At the time I was dithering as to whether I should go ahead with surgery, but this was so inspiring to watch that it helped me make the decision to go ahead.
The picture of her leaping into the water is wonderful - the way to remember her always.
Love and best wishes, Winston the golden retriever and mom, Carolyn.
Thanks everyone. It has been almost two weeks and of course it is still hard. Thismorning's post is the first time I have shared with anyone outsite of immediate family that we had to put Bella down. I get weepy everytime I come back to this thread! It was only the week before her last that I was still saying that she is doing fine. But in hindsight I realize that I was willingly overlooking just how weak she was becoming. Her final days were very hard for my wife and I because Bella was no longer strong enough to stand up on her own. Once you helped her to her feet she could maybe make it a few hops, or maybe none at all, before collapsing again. Thanks again for everyone's kind words. Please read a happier thread after reading this one!
Oh Bella, our hearts are heavy with the news that you had to leave this earth. You are missed tremendously by everyone you touched here at Tripawds.
I know what your pawrents meant by overlooking your health when you became weak, but they shouldn't feel badly about it, they were doing their best, which is all we can ever want in a pawrent.
There is such a fine line that our guardians have to walk, when it comes to looking after our health. Humans must be pack leaders, and truly believe that we are strong and healthy, without overlooking the signs that maybe it's our time. How does one make that decision for us? It's not easy. It's a heavy burden that they bear on our behalf, and we Tripawds are tremendously grateful for this. For once we are released from our earthly commitments, we are free to run and play and jump again, on the other side of the rainbow bridge.
We know you will be there for us when it's our turn. Be well my friend.
With much love,
Jerry
