I can't say much, but I saw all your beautiful posts and I had to let you know.  This morning we released Tika from her pain.  It was quick and peaceful, I will explain more to you later when I can.

I told Tika that she needs to look after her sister before she runs up to that Rainbow Bridge, and I think she is.  Caya is nowhere in the clear, but she is stable, and looked a lot more chipper than she did yesterday. I told her that she has a very special guardian angel now.

I wrote this last week, and it's probably silly, but it expresses what Tika has given me.

My Legacy

Yes, I am slowing down

My beautiful body has failed me

I know that you have been sad

But know that I’ll soon be at peace

You tried so valiantly to save me

I tried so valiantly to cheer you

But all the love we had

Could not beat our enemy

So I leave with you my legacy

Of what I was able to teach you

Follow my lead

For I shall never leave you

I taught you to take time to smell the breeze

Sit and absorb the sun

I taught you that every new thing is wonderment

So stop and enjoy the moment

I taught you to be a clown, and just be goofy

Life is too short to take seriously

I taught you to sing loudly off key

Yell your happiness out to the world

So, now the time has come, and I must go

I’m not afraid, for now it’s easy

Just promise me you’ll have no regrets

And never forget……

Take time to smell the breeze

Absorb each wonder in this world

Dance like a clown and sing off key

Just stop….and live for the moment.

Follow what I’ve taught you….

And then I shall never be far away.

I am sooo sorry... I was hoping and praying that Tika would pull through just as she had many times before. What a brave, strong girl - she will always be a princess. I wish I had more words to say to give you the slightest bit of comfort, but none come to me. Just know we are all here when you need anything and my prayers will continue for Caya.

Love & Hugs -

Shilo diagnosed with osteosarcoma 9/4/2009, amputation 9/9/2009. ShiloAnne lost her battle 11/23/2009 where she regained her fourth leg and is patiently waiting for her parents to join her. We will always love you baby girl.

Sorry to hear of your loss. It's amazing how much our dogs teach us about life, love and ourselves. I think your poem sums it up perfectly.

Oh Tika, your pawrents have set for you the ultimate example.  Now you get to follow it as your family's guardian angel.  Don't forget to remind Caya of all the pampering that will be coming her way as she pulls out of her illness!

My Legacy is a beautiful poem.

Lots of thoughts and prayers coming your way.

I'm so sorry Kim.  Your poem is not silly, it's beautiful like Tika was.  The fact that she has fought and survived all these months truly made her one of the lucky ones.  I know it's not much of a consolation right now but she is in a better place.  My thoughts are with you and Caya....I hope she will be ok.

Kim, Caya, and Tim,

We are so very sorry to hear your news. Tika's loss is devastating to all of us and perhaps a pain shared is a pain eased, just a little bit. All we can do is send you our love and continue to send strength to you to help you carry on. As we know you will. Tika is a true Tripawd Hero and an inspawration to all of us. Tika's shining spirit will be with you, and the whole Tripawds community, forever, because we shall never, ever forget her. Your poem is a beautiful tribute and your love for Tika shows in every word.

Caya, our thoughts will be with you every step of the way. As will your guardian angel Tika.

Kim, I have tears in my eyes as I type this. We also got your message today, and are so very sorry to hear this news.

No words can ease the pain, or do justice to the incredible girl that Tika was. She was such a fighter! And so brave. Her legacy will live on here thanks to your detailing and chronicling her treatments and adventures.

We are just so honored that we got to meet her, Caya, you and Tim, and will always cherish that memory. Thank you so much for bringing her to Colorado.

Your poem is really beautiful. And you're right, she is never, ever far away. Listen closely and pay attention, she will leave you signs to let you know she's around.

Caya is in our thoughts, and healing wishes are being sent to her. We hope she kicks this illness to the curb soon.

Stay strong and know we're all thinking of you....

With much love,

Rene, Jim, Wyatt & Spirit Jerry

Tika was so strong for such a long time. I'm sad to see her go, but she is in good hands and has plenty of new friends.

Whenever I hear of one of our precious pups passing, I always imagine a line of tripawds standing at the pearly gates patiently waiting to welcome their newest member into the fold.

Bless your family

Michelle

Kim, I'm so sorry to hear that Tika has passed on. Crying She fought so bravely... and so did you! Your poem about her legacy is beautiful and heartfelt! I know too well how you are feeling now... you're glad she is no longer suffering, but you also miss her terribly and wish she was still here. It's been just a week since I lost Jake, and I still can't stop crying for him.

I hope that Tika gets to meet my Jake in heaven. Wouldn't that be cool if all our angels started up their own Tripawds group up there?

You and Caya are in my thoughts and prayers... I hope that she starts feeling better soon.

Jake lost his battle on 11/9/2009, almost 8 weeks after his surgery. We will never forget our sweet golden angel… http://jakesjou.....ipawds.com ….. CANCER SUCKS!
