Thanks for all the greetings, everybody! Bosco and I are off to training class this afternoon. Last week was his first, and he was distracted by everything and didn't do so well paying attention to me. But he's done great practicing at home, and he can do "sit" and "down" very well. Maybe class will not be such a novelty now, and we'll do better today!
I can't let my last comment stand without an update: Bosco graduated from doggie training class today, and ultimately as a star pupil! Once he got used to being there, he did great, with the trainers often marveling at how smart he is. Of course, we still have to work a lot on getting the same obedience in less controlled circumstances, but we're definitely on our way.
After class, I took him for the first time to the off-leash dog park at the same place where the classes are held, and he had a blast. I have a pretty large backyard, but that's nothing like seeing him run at full speed across the park, keeping up with all the other dogs with no problem at all.
The trainers are going to be sending photos they took during our last class, but in the meantime, here's Bosco looking handsome in a photo my sister took this weekend. (She and my 10-year-old nephew were here visiting this weekend, so what with guests and class and the dog park, Bosco is completely conked out tonight!)
Cutie! Looking forward to seeing more photos!
Way to go, Bosco, being a star pupil!

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Yaaay Bosco! You look like such a happy graduate!

Your generosity of spirit will no doubt be repaid by your handsome boy in the form of many doggy kisses and adoring looks. He is adorable and it obvious how attached the two of you already are. Congratulations, and welcome!

Golden retriever, diagnosed with osteosarcoma in September 2010 — right front leg amputated November 2010. He fought valiantly to stay with us; but a second diagnosis of osteosarcoma, this time in his left front leg, was more than our golden warrior could overcome. He loved his pack — and everyone else he met.
We loved him even more.
Thanks for the pennies, Sammy. They helped.
Oh, Bosco, my heart is melting. You are such a handsome boy. Congratulations on graduating from your class! We can't wait to see and hear more from you.

What a cutie! Those innocent eyes...just wanting a pat on the head to confirm what he already knows!!! L.O.V.E . To love a person or an animal is a risk, but life would be pretty empty if we didn't take the chance and let ourselves love!! God gives us animals to remind us that He doesn't remember the past either...living in the moment. What potential!!

Young, energetic, and smart.... you could be in trouble
.
Could be! My previous dog was a sheltie mix, and I just have a thing for those herding types, I guess, even when they can sometimes be a handful. Especially young -- it's been a drastic difference going from a 15-year-old dog to a 10-month-old puppy!
The trainers e-mailed the graduation day photos this morning. Homework for the final class was to teach your dog a trick, so here's Bosco showing off his "shake."
definitely a cutie patootie!!! he's got that shake down!!
charon & spirit gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
Oh my goodness! What an adorable fella! Bosco, you make us proud!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
