We ordered a custom brace from Ace OrthoBrace...
Thanks for the update!
Don't miss our video interview with OrthoPets founder Martin Kaufman discussing the benefits of braces:
OrthoPets Talks Prosthetics for Pets, Part 2
We have a separate video with him discussing prosthetics for dogs.
Please keep us posted with updates about rehab with the brace!

Thanks so much for keeping us posted and for being such a diligent pawrent. It is difficult to deal with a problem in a Tripawd's second leg...we know...and you are doing a great job. The "keep him quiet" directive is one of the hardest things to do!
Kathi and Murphy (who is now one year post-amp and ten months post-total hip replacement)
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
Added information: We've continued PT and the brace is working reasonably well--back to about 15% weight bearing on the injured back leg while wearing the brace. She's still happy and only seems to really have trouble moving around at night. Not a perfect outcome, but given the risks that surgery entailed, I'm happy we've gone with the PT route. It has not been cheap, but better than surgery.
Thanks for checking in and letting us know how Little Bear is dong!
She's happy? That IS a great outcome! Glad the brace and PT are heling. Would love to see a vdeo or pic!
Hang in there...both of you!
Hugs and love to all!
Sally and Happy Hannah!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
That is fantastic! 3-paws up to you for making the effort, I know it's a lot of work but it's worth it isn't it?
Would you be willing to write a guest blog post about your experience? It would sure help others. Thanks for considering it.
