Appreciate your time and value your expertise...thankyou to anyone who can offer insight...

'Been noticing the reduced energy for several weeks now...not "lethargic" in the sense of "depressed"...just slowing down. Still VERY happy, alert, etc.

One distinct pattern change is she doesn't beg for food non-stop. Still eating very well...just prefers rest sometimes over prancing around with her food bowl in her mouth! Still eats her meals, again, just a reduction in her begging.

Slight discharge from eyes...both eyes...and the while part has a lot of red...her eyes just look a little "glassy".

Has a temp. of 102.3.....yep...took her to my regular vet. She has lost approx. two lbs in about twelve days...the scales are so screwy when she waddles up on them...it may not be quite that much. My vet laughed and said "No matter what the resson, it's a good think if Hapy Hannah looses a little weight...she has plenty to spare!" 'Hope that's true.

I feel like I see and hear her with a little more "effort" in breathing...no cough, or wheezing to speak of.....just maybe my imagination...seems like I "notice" her visually as her tummy rises and falls.......anyway....vet did NOT hear any resipatory sounding issues when he listened to her!
He thought maybe with the slight elevated temo., it may just be a respitory infection.

Gave her Cephaflexin (sp) and we'll see how she does with that. Should notice improvement anywhere between four and eight days. A low grade fever would certainly make her tired

So, all these symptons just match an infection, right? And just slowing down a little becauseof age?

Contnuing to celebrate her one year ampuversary and oving forward (knock on wood)...celebrating the gift of every second of every day.
thankyou again so much!

With gratitude,

Sally and Happy Hannah

PS Did do blook work , urine about tjree weeks ago and EVERYTHING in normal range! YAAAAAY

Well, I can't really add anything to that, but I'm going to vote for infection.  With a fever (no matter how small or big), she might just be feeling a bit punky.  We'll be thinking about Happy Hannah, and sending positive thoughts her way!

Sally
Don't have too much to add. I just know I was at once convinced more was going on with Chuck as he had similar symptoms and his lungs ended up being clear as can be. So voting on infection. Always thinking and praying for you and miss Hannah. We all love you so much. Fingers Xd that the antibiotics kick what ever is going on In the butt and she's back to being for watermelons and steak ASAP.
Love you guys

Oh Hannah don't worry us like that you hear?

You have my vote on infection and her more mature age, I'm sure that's all it is Sally. You did great by taking her to your vet for peace of mind. She's a strong, happy girl like always.

Hannah.... chin up buttercup! shelby wants to see more pretty photos of you!

Hang in there Sally, you're a great mom ... Hannah is so lucky to have you and sometimes we all have off days. Shelby has been snoozey central for a couple of days but tail wags and wants food. Sometimes she just needs to rest a bit. I bet Hannah is the same!

Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Thanks JERRY.....YAAAAY for "maturity".....she's even getting a touch hard of hearing...only tripawd parents cheer the virtues of an aging dog!

Thanks ALISON...Buttercup?? LOVE that! Her sagging, drooling chin is up Buttercup and I'll be posting more pics shorty!!

OKAY...so far all votes are 100% infection!!!!!!!!

Love to all!

Sally & Hannah,

I vote for infection.  Did your vet do x-rays on the chest?  But like Lori said x-rays could be clear.  I know when I run a fever I don't feel very good and just don't want to do anything.  Prayers for a speedy recovery.

Hang in there Sally.  You know we are all here with you.  You are a great mom & support to Hannah.  Maybe after some rest Hannah will be back to normal.

Hugs

Sounds like infection to me, as well.  Somebody here (Jerry?) said dogs get colds too.  Everybody feels a little under the weather sometimes.  Steak & ice cream?  She'll find that 2 lbs she lost! :D  Lucky dog!

Hugs to you and Happy Hannah

Amy & Libby

Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13.  Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14.  She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self.  Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14

A fever definitely means sick and not feeling well...infection or virus. I hope Hannah is feeling better soon!

A few pounds of weight loss? Well, not to be crude, but maybe she had an extra big poop? Being such a "large and lovely" girl, I'm sure her poops are the same ;-)

Keep us updated. We all love both of you so much!

Carol

We vote for infection, too! How nuts does that sound?

Kathi and Murphy

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
