T-minus THREE days until cone-off and counting…
Our other cat, Abby is having to make some adjustments.
It is strange to me how cats who have known each other for YEARS treat each other like total strangers after a vet visit. Abby seemed quite shocked at the sight of blue conehead hobbling around the house. Raven went straight at her. Abby looked horrified.. “What THE HELL is THAT??!!!”
I’ve read on this site that household cat pairs can take quite some time to get adjusted to one another again. It was just a few hours for us. Difference? Raven insisted on it. She is the alpha cat, and absolutely dominates Abby. I don’t know why this is the case, because as you can see in the below pic, Raven is less than half of Abby’s weight/size. And Abby is no wimp either. She is a very muscular and highly athletic Turkish Van. But of course, no match for little wolverine.
Raven wasted no time laying down the law. She wants everything in the household back-to-normal as soon as possible. No exceptions.
“Look, you’re going to hold still, and I’m going lay on you. Just like we’ve always done. If you don’t like the cone, just shut your eyes and suck it up! Ready? Begin!”
Fortunately, Abby is a good sport. A very patient, gentle giant.
Way to go Raven and what a good girl Abby is! ❤️❤️
Rusty "The Bunnyman" adopted us in 2014. Aug/Sept 2017, back left leg amputated (HSA cancer). He remained cancer free over 900 days. Cancer returned as of emergency visit on day 931. 15 days later, he gained his wings 04/18/2020 due to congestive heart failure. He will always watch over his fellow tripawds and their hoomins with Head Scritches and Sand Paper Kisses.

So I'm out of town, and will miss THE big day. Bummer!
I've asked the warden to keep us updated with guest posts. She's been shirking her responsibilities. I think Raven has been a bad influence on her. Raven has taught her that open defiance at my expense can sometimes be quite entertaining. I'm a little worried about the trend.
The short update is that Raven is doing great. Back to all normal household activities, and seems VERY happy about getting her life back. The question now is how to properly celebrate the end of her 3-week recovery period. One tripawd suggestion was soft-serve ice cream. We have not tried this yet, but I'm intrigued...

Not sure that's going to be warden-approved, though. We'll think of something.
Mark
Real bummer you will miss the big de cone event, Maybe the warden will take a picture or video for you & us.
You can all celebrate when you get home. How about some Whiskas cat milk the warden will probably approve of that. Special food or treats ! I really think Raven's celebration will be getting the cone off & being free, just be a cat again!!
Glad to hear all is going well even with the cone. Now wait util the cone comes off Raven will show you what a tripawd kitty is all about;) Have a good trip and safe return.
