17 yr old getting Leg Amputated _tomorrow_.

Hi. I have a 17 yr old deaf RESCUE cat, Baby, I have had her for two years. Here is some of what I wrote to family.

1] I heard loud Meowing in the bedroom. As I walked closer she came out dragging her back right leg.

Vet: Xray: Broken above the knee [She did not cooperate much.]. I can think of nothing in that room that would hurt her. She is only on the bed at night.

No pet insurance: ADHD: have a link to the 15 best Pet Insurances: never used.

Home with a 3 day long Pain Shot while I decide.

2] Baby is in Surgery. Thin bones, hyperthyroid = fast heart rate. Was warned _might_ not be good. Will find out in 2 hours.

3] Was called: Probable Bone Cancer at that spot. Sedated Xrays show break flared a bit. Bone not as thick. Bits of bone. Going with amputation. On IV liquids until Tuesday surgery and home Friday. Just have to hope she makes it through it... was warned. Comes home Friday or not at all.

I have read a bit here and know I am very lucky to have the Vet I have for this. A weekend+ with IV fluids, etc., and keeping her for 2+ days after surgery.

I am sure they will tell me but I am already putting upside down boxes next to the bed and favorite chair as steps.

Hi and welcome. I'm so sorry you had to find us & in this position right now.
We are sending pawsitive energy your way for a successful surgery and homecoming! This is a very stressful day (understated). We wholeheartedly understand all the fears and unknowns right now!! There is a risk with any anesthetic, and more so when we have several health issues. You are giving Baby a chance and trying. That is all we can do and what she would want. The rest is out of our hands.
