I'm looking for a swimming vest for Leo (81 lb yellow lab with front right leg amp)to help him enjoy the most favorite thing he loves to do is swim and camp. We are trying to keep his spirits up and trying to add some fun stuff he loves to do but with growing vet bills cant afford some things. Thanks so much Sherry (Leos Mom) You can email me at auntsherry121@comcast.net. Thank You
Don't have either product myself, but just wanted to send you and Leo best of success n this journey. He sonds like a wmderful fella and it's clear you love him very much
We would love to hear more about your boy ---why he "lost" his leg and how he's doing over all.
Best to you n your search. Perhaps you could fnd an organization that would help defray some of the costs.
Take care
Sally and Happy Hannah
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Hi, Thanks for your kind words. Leo started limping in May of this year. They thought it was a sprang and when they did an xray thats when we found out it was cancer in his upper arm bone. His right front leg was amputated on May 31st. As a family we have always camped, hiked, swim, very outdoorsy active family. Results were Osteosarcoma. He now is doing Chemo. We took him camping (everyone goes, his sister (great pyrenese/husky) and 2 cats) and he was able to do short walks around the campsite. But it broke my heart to see how he wanted to do more but couldnt. He is my hero and has a great spirit to him. He doesnt give up. He has his moments but he keeps going. He is doing good but he is wearing a cone due to some problems with his good front leg. He has chewed/licked a sore and once it starts healing he opens it up again. He had a problem with the second bout of Chemo. His poor arm just swelled up so bad. Scared me. We would do anything for him, he is our son and we are so grateful for the love and support of everyone here. As you know it is stressful and you do find out who is there and who isnt. As long as he is in good health and good spirits it is all about him. Some just dont get that. They are missing out. We got him at 6 months old as a giveaway from a very abusive home. He has been through so much. He is a survivor.
Ohhh, Leo sounds like a real brave boy who is quite the soldier! I'm so glad yo took the time to tell us more about him and your entire pack.
Yeah, for my Happy Hannah the stamina isn't what it used to be (a "pleasingl plump" Bull Mastiff) and it takes a lot of energy for her to "tripawd around". She as little spurts of energy and then just joyously plops to the ground and rolls all round on the grass. She waits for me to come over and then expects.....no...demands...non-stop tummy rubs:-) She's always been a laid back girl so walking a little less and rollng around in tje grass and gettng tummy rbs suites ner just fie!! Just know that Leo is perfectly hapy just "being with you" and doesn't mind not doing as much----as long as he's near you!
Leo is still early in his recovery--plus he's getting chemo---and on top of that the injection made his leg swell...AND he has to wear a cone, right?? Goodness gracious, I guess he isn't up to doing but so much!! Leo's had quite a few challenges to say the least!!
Just curious what happened that made his leg swell during second chemo. I'm sure someone is assigned to watch him non-stop while he's getting the injection. Did they say wht's causing the other leg issues? I know several of us noticed our dogs pretty much left the surgery site alon, but would lick their legs and ankles for weeks after surgery! Weird, huh?
You may find (or may not):-) that in another thirty days or so, Leo's energy will actually increase as his muscles build up and adjust. There are a lot of liks on this site that discuss muscle building exercises, massages, etc.
Cick ont "Angel Exchange" on the forums, there might be some products and tools available on there for Leo. Heck, even if he can't swim right away, he can still chase stick in the shallows!
YOU area WONDERFUL advocate for your boy!! Clearly, the bond is soul deep and you enjoy each other immense ly! Jist keep on loving and spoiling and loving and spoiling some more!!! Leo's not worrying about a thing!" He's living in the present and doesn't care about any old stupid disease!! he's with you and that's all he cares about! Enjoy every sacred moment...and it's clear you are!"
Surrou ding yo with hugs...and applause to you and Leo for hanging tough! You voth are doi g great! What a team!"
Stay connected and et us kow how Leo and his pack are doi g!

If you are looking for a Ruff Wear Float Coat, please provide Leo's girth measurement to ensure a proper fit.
