Our dane, Wilson has a partial ACL tear in his remaining back leg and we are looking for an option to stabilize the knee. I'm not sure the measurements I would need, but his leg circumference is about 8.5inches below the knee and 15 inches above the knee. He's quite small for a great dane (115lbs with 4 legs, now 95 pounds with 3).
I would of course offer the brace back here when we no longer need it.
Thanks!!
Rachel
Hi Rachel, thanks for joining us, your future posts won't require approval.
Just wanted to throw this out there, but before putting a brace on your dog, please see a rehab vet or board-certified orthopedic vet to ensure that's what he needs, as well as the correct sizing. The wrong size and type can be just as detrimental as none at all.
We look forward to hearing more about Wilson. Why did he lose his leg? Feel free to put his story in our "Size and Age Matters" forum where others with giant breed dogs come to share their Tripawd journeys.
