Now I'm tossing this out as an idea. Over Memorial Day weekend, there is a greyhound event in Gatlinburg, TN. I'm checking to see if non-sighthounds are welcome. It is 3.5 hours from Nashville but 6.5 to 7 hours from Richmond. The benefits of crashing an organized dog event is that it is already organized. Several meals are already catered. It is dog friendly. Greyhound owners are all too familiar with osteosarcoma and tripawds.
Our friends from Greyhounds Rock Fredericksburg might be interested in this. I will get Kim Fraser, one of the founders, over here to see what she thinks and if she knows anyone in that group.

I am 6hrs 45 min from Fredericksburg and 7.5 hrs from Richmond. I am entertaining the idea of coming to this depending on when it is. Steve would obviously not come. Yorrick might come.
This is super awkward to type with a cat across my forearms (Zissou)
Right rear leg amp due to injury from unknown cause (but don't tell her she's missing her spare...yes HER!)

I am 3 hours from either place. Not sure of the logistics of bringing all 3. Maybe just Daryl.
TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
YAAAAAAAAAY! We have a pawty shaping up with lots of GREAT humans and dogs! And YES, Steve must come with Yorrick! We need someone to represent kitties!!
And am I reading this right...WYATT's coming too?????
Kim, would the location have a dog park or some sort of off leash fencing? Some of us will be bringing more than one dog and, for me anyway, it would be pretty impossible to keep my two on leashes the whole time without keeping my arm from being pulled off!!
As you recall, the Virginia location had a shelter and a dog park and another section fenced off for smaller dogs. Needless to say, all our tripawds and my one quadpawd had the whole "yard" to ourselves. It was absolutely delightful to see ALL our dogs get along so beautifully!
LORI! Yes, we have to meet CHANDLER and LUCY too!!!
CHERYL AND ZACK!!!! Sooooo glad ro hear from you!!!! Geez, I really was concerned that maybe things weren't going well with Zach! Dontw know if you got my phone message a week or so ago, but just soooooo glad to hear everything is going well for ZACH!!! Can't wait to see you guys again!!

OK you Pawty Animals. Greyhounds ROCK Fredericksburg would like to invite you to Spotsylvania Virginia for a Pawty!!
We are looking at having a day in the country at the Piney Branch Ranch on May 23. We are putting together a list of events but right now we have a traditional cookout, a Memorial Bonfire, doggy swimming pools, and some trails you can walk your dog. We will have one of the fields fenced in for off leash activities and several xpens set up. There is plenty of shade under big oak trees and we will set up some canopies. In case of rain, we will move the pawty to one of the greenhouses. I am going to put together some places to go to in Dog Friendly Historic Fredericksburg as this is Memorial Day Weekend and you can make an entire weekend of it. I can arrange a block of rooms at a dog friendly hotel which is 8 miles from the event if you are interested. The event will be at my house and GRF is coming up with more activities for you on Saturday. I hope this is OK but could we ask for $20 per head to pay for food and a potty? any extra funds would go to Tripawds Foundation and GRF for Canine Cancer Research. We will try to invite some speakers but remember it is Memorial Day weekend.
Thoughts? Interest? Numbers??
Kim
