Love Never Ends
We're in the Atlanta, GA area. Sorry to hear of the impending surgery. Libby will do just fine. There is a wealth of information on this site, so be prepared to read. Also, get lots of rest so you'll be ready for Libby's home-coming. Please keep us posted! We're sending pawsitive thoughts your way!

Cathy and Libby,
We chatted earlier today and I have to say the Libby is very beautiful.
Everyone here know just how scary it is to be faced with what you and Libby now face. Trust me that this community will be here soon with the kind of support I have known over my nearly two years here.
Lots of love and Prayers for you both.

Dear Cathy and Libby,
I don't live geographically close, but that is the bonus of this great website. We all are just as close as our computers, and as
charon & gayle suggested...read all you can here and ask any questions. Most of us have been where you are now and are willing to share and offer some of our experiences with our pups and fighting this horrible disease. Once you and your sweet Libby get through the next couple of weeks, she will be hopping around and you will be amazed!
Sending warm wishes you are in the right place here.

Welcome Cathy & Libby! You will become so at home here you won't even notice we aren't neighbors! You have opened the door to a world of support and a safe hideaway when you're having a bad day. My tripawd friends are the best ever! It is the one place where you can be you, and they 'get it'!

Hi Cathy, I'm so glad you found Tripawds – but so sorry for the reason. Libby is sure a cutie-pie!! Love that sweet brown face!
You'll find lots of amazing support to help you through this scary time. When you have a chance, read Jerry's required reading as etgayle suggested. Also, check out pictures in the gallery of other tripawds before Libby's surgery. It'll help to see them before you see your girl.
Gets lots of rest, stay positive and be ready for some ups and downs the next couple of weeks. You'll be amazed how quickly she's back on her paws!!
Let us know how things go on Friday.
Dx Osteosarcoma 3/31/10. Amputation 7/21/10. Honey put up a valiant fight and lost her battle 9/22/10. Missing her and treasuring 9 years with our Honeygurl.
Chloe also spent 2 nights with round the clock technician care. They made sure she was comfortable, pain free and recovering so that I could take her home!

P.S. Plus it allowed me to "tripawd" proof the house, adding extra non slip rugs, buying a new dog bed, get some sleep...
Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog
I believe one of the admins left a comment on another forum regarding vets who allow dogs to come home same day post amp. He said:
Run. Nothing good has ever come of dogs who came home the same day. Can't recall specific topics right now, but members have reported trips to the emergency vet, and worse. The best option is a facility with 24 hour post-op care. If they don't have that, then yes, being home with you may be better. Coming home the next morning is fine for most dogs, but until they fully come out of their post-op stupor, professional monitoring is highly recommended.
Here is the forum this quote was taken from
You might call your vet and see if they offer 24hr post-op care. Chloe had technicians around the clock for 48 hours before she came home.

Cathy, welcome to the family, I live about 50 miles south of Cleveland in Medina county, not sure if that is the close you were looking for, but if you want to contact me, I'd be more than happy to help you out, e-mail me at cousinpepper@hotmail.com, and we'll throw you on our saddle and make the ride as easy possible. You've come to a great place, sucks to be us but we make it worth while. Paws up, Spirit Gus and Dan
My buddy Gus had a left front amputation on April 7, 2010 and lived a great life until July 26,2010
We're thinking of you this morning. She'll be fine. Skyler came home 24 hours after her surgery. I was really nervous about seeing her, and wondering if it was too soon to have her home. Looking at pictures prior to picking her up really helped prepare me for how the incision would look. When I saw Skyler hopping down the hallway at the hospital that next morning, all I saw was that beautiful face of her's. Nothing else mattered at that moment. Bringing her home really brought peace to us. She cried alot her first night, but after that she improved more each day. If they decide to keep Libby 2 days, then take advantage of that time and REST! Sending you pawsitive thoughts and hugs!
Cathy
Hey everpawdy, we're locking this topic since it's gone astray from discussing parties in Ohio. Please feel free to continue to support Libby and Cathy's journey here. Thanks.
