Hi, We live in Mesa and our rescued Italian Mastiff will be just over 6 weeks post amputation for Osteosarcoma on his right front leg on April 3....we're just wondering if he'll be ok and healed enough to bring to the Pawty at Echo Park on April 3rd? He's never been to a dog park as far as we know. He seems to be great with other dogs that he's met but a little fearful at times with strangers. He's been known to get spooked and growls at times but always warms up quickly after he settles...we always keep him leashed because we don't want to offend anyone but basically he really needs to get out and socialize because he didn't get the proper socialization as a pup. He's such a good boy and we just want him to get to experience some new things as he lives out his life with cancer. Thanks!
At six weeks post-op, your pup should be more than able to get out and enjoy a day at the park. But he will still be weak and regaining his strength. It might just be a matter of keeping him under your close supervision, and moderating his activity. Perhaps a short trip to the park beforehand will give yo a better idea of how he might handle all the excitement. By all means, we don't want him to over do it, but we hope to see you there!

Everypawdy, would it be OK if we moved the location? We've now got 2 members here coming from Mesa, and another on Facebook, and now Tasha isn't 10o pawsent sure she can make it. So I'm thinking is there a halfway point between Phoenix and Mesa that would make it easier for everypawdy? Just a thought. I know Phoenix is a big place and not knowing the dog park scene, was wondering if you guys have any ideas or thoughts about this. Sorry to be so wishy washy!

Actually I think that Echo Mtn. is more central if you are going to park the land yacht in that area. If not, how about this one?
Chaparral Park
5401 N. Hayden Road
(Southeast of
Hayden and Jackrabbit)
Scottsdale, AZ 85250
480-312-WOOF (9663)
- Off leash area is 4 acres
with 3 acres of grass - Hours: Sunrise to 10pm, lights on dusk
to dawn - All areas closed when there are wet conditions
- Weekly maintenance closures – Tuesday and Fridays, 8:00am-12:00pm
It's a little further east than Echo Mtn. If you aren't parking the land yacht in Phx. or Surprise, there is a fairly nice dog park in N. Mesa right off the 202 and Greenfield. It's just south of the 202 off Greenfield Rd.
4155 E Virginia
Quail Run Park
Mesa, AZ 85209
Can we keep the 9 a.m. time?
Not sure what part of Mesa the others are coming from and how far it would be for Dixie.
Let me know!

Eleanor, thank you.
Yes, lets make it North Mesa then. We aren't bringing the RV, we found a place to stay outside of town so we'll be driving up in the truck only.
9 AM time for sure. Wyatt Ray is not a hot weather dog. He hates the heat.

We're gonna be there for sure. Daddy is even going to come with us! Looking forward to meeting all of you.

Have fun Twipawders ! Be sure to take lots of pics!
Hey Wyatt Ray ,
You know Vegas isn't too far away... But your mommy and daddy won't let you visit me because they are afraid I'll kidnap and keep you! They know how much I love nutty shep boys - the nuttier, the better!
Comet's mom
(could be Wyatt's mom, too!)
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Guess what?! I just ran into another tripawd in a nearby neighborhood! I told him (the owner) to join tripawds.com and invited them to our party. Unfortunately his tripawd gets carsick after about 2 miles in the car. He said there is a third tripawd in the neighborhood, so we are going to have to have a north phoenix party one of these days. Hope they both join tripawds.com!

Now, there's an idea! Careful what you wish for … might be worth a trip to Vegas.
