I am taking everyone's advice and making the most of every minute with my boy. I've always wanted to visit Jack London State Park (his old homestead). I only have weekends off, so was thinking of maybe this Saturday and Sunday. Yeah, *this* weekend. 🙂 There's a campground nearby it...

Could we come and meet you there on Sunday? I don't have the whole weekend, but a short visit would work. I'd love to meet you and Raven. Let us know your plans.

Hi Mary! I am going to call the campground, but it looks like I'll stay at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park, about 6 miles away from Jack London (there's no camping at Jack London). Since check in is later in the day, I'll go to Jack London on Saturday, then go to the campground. Sunday I'll be there relaxing, cook breakfast, checkout is noon. So, I could either meet you at Sugarloaf by noon, or somewhere on the way out towards home. I live in Auburn, CA, in the foothills off I-80 east of Sacto, so that's where I'll be headed... 🙂

Oh... we would so be there if we could make it! Unfortunately we are stuck in Nevada until Christmas. Have fun!

Northern or Southern NV????? I'm in Auburn, only 100 miles from Reno. I could also head up that way...

We'll be in Fernley, NV – approx. 35 miles east of Reno – through December 23 then heading to Southern California to visit family.

I am not sure if I've mentioned this, but I am founder/director of a wildlife group Wild About Cats. I have a cheetah on exhibit loan at Animal Ark, near Stead north of Reno a bit. They are closed for the winter. But, I am overdue for a visit and can camp on site. Let me know if you are interested in a possible private tour/meetup? http://www.animalark.org

Dawn and Raven,
I had better not let Cherry see this one for she would be on my case to go. She absolutely loves to go out in the RV and in fact we were at the trailer yesterday to drain the water from the tubing and hot water tank. In spite of wanting desperately, there are few main reasons we cannot be there. First, our trailer far exceeds the maximum allowable for Sugarloaf Ridge State Park (32ft versus 24ft). For my wife, Emily, roughing it is no WiFi but there is RV camping at the Napa Valley Expo RV Park with full hookups and it does have WiFi. Also, Emily is taking three community college classes in horticulture and is tied up all day Saturday. However, the show stopper is the status of Cherry. About a week ago, her health took a real nose dive. I pray that it is only a bug that she caught while walking around the neighborhood. She seems to be extremely sensitive to catching these bugs when she get around areas where other dogs have been. We nearly lost her in March with one that took nearly six weeks and a ton of vet visits and she again caught a bug in June during our month long Yellowstone Trip. The later took only a week for recovery and no vet visits.
So, it is not that I am anti-social that I do not take Cherry to visit, but rather a protective dad. Give Raven a big hug from all of us here in Livermore and tell him that we want lots of photos and movies.

Very! Let's see if we can plan something here.
So sorry to hear about Cherry, Bob. We hope she gets well soon.

Wish I could get Tazzie to California this xmas season. Have been thinking about it now and then. My folks are out there so I will visit. But Tazzie and long road trips do not mix, although I am thinking of asking for a friend to volunteer so one person could ride in the back seat with him. Still, a trip lasting well over 30 hrs, maybe 40 - probably insane and maybe even cruel (given his peculiar psyche). My parents also are not exactly welcoming about a doggy visitor - against the policy of their retirement home. It would be so nice for us to meet all of you. But the idea of getting Tazzie to a warm climate and water in which he can swim keeps popping into my mind.
Cherry - I hope it is nothing serious!

I am very blessed to have these animals in my life. We run them to a greyhound lure for their health and wellbeing. Raven, and his father Conner, loved to chase that lure too. Funny, they looked like turtles by comparison... 🙂 Here's a page about our cheetahs, with pics and videos and sounds they make.

Sounds like you have been to Sugarloaf? Is it nice? I have a little vintage '86 Bigfoot trailer, only 19'. I call her Bessie, the Traveling Egg. 😉 I have solar and don't mind dry camping.
I hope you can make the next trip. 🙂

I have been trying to reach the Sugarloaf Campground about this weekend to see if they are open/reservation availability. No answer. I'm assuming with the state cutbacks, they may be closed or the rangers only work weekends. I don't want to drive down and find out the hard way, so odds are I won't be coming down to camp unless I can reach them tomorrow (Friday). But, still may be up for a daytrip with Raven to the Jack London State Park on Sunday!

Hi Dawn,
I would love to meet Raven, but I can't get out of town on Sunday.
Hi Bob,
I didn't realize you were in Livermore also. I hope Cherry is feeling/getting better.
I really enjoyed getting together last weekend with the N CA crew, and I would love to get together with whoever when ever possible.
Maggie is a bit ambivalent around other dogs, she is almost 11 and sort of done with the playing thing, but really these meet-ups, and the pug group meet-ups I go to are for me!
Looking forward to pics from whoever manages to meet up!
