Way to go, Zeus!! So happy to see this update. Lily is on sucralfate right now-just in case of an ulcer. Thinking of you
Joan and Lily
Our beautiful Lily was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her front leg on 12/14/11 at age 8 and had amp on 12/16/11. She completed 5 rounds of carbo. She was so brave and kicked cancer's butt daily! She lived life fully for 4 years, 3 months, and 15 days after her amp. My angel is a warrior princess. I miss her so much.
That is such wonderful news. Tell Zeusy to stop giving us all heart attacks! You must be so relieved.
Karen and Spirit Magnum
Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. My beloved heart dog, see her memoirs from Rainbow Bridge ...... http://princess.....pawds.com/

Way to go Zeusy! My mom has not been on the computer for a while and she started reading this post from beginning to end and she was SO scared for you and now she is happy. I got a treat. Thanks. BTW- Glad you are feeling better!
Spirit Samson was Spirit Tripawd Daisys four legged "brother" and ruled as the self proclaimed head of the Monkeybutt Federations East Coast Division. Lady Chunky Monkey stayed from Oct 2011 and left for the bridge in Apr 2012. Miss Perdy is left and has some big pawprints to fill.

So sorry to hear that Zeus isn't doing very well. Sending you good thoughts for just a bump in the road.
I know others had troubles with Metronidazole, but Rio took it without any issues during her chemo. Same with the Cerenia. Hopefully, Zeus's issues will resolve now that you've discontinued the meds, but we're pulling for you both!!!
Waiting for test results is special torture, but try to do something fun this weekend to take your mind off the waiting.
All our best from our pack to yours!

Oh wow!!! I'm so happy Zeus is so much better!! I haven't been following so closely for the last couple of weeks (trying to sell our property - way too much stuff) and when I read of Zeus's problems my heart just fell. But I cut to the chase and read the latest news and woohoo Zeus is back!
So happy:))
TONS of hugs

I just wanted to post quickly to let you guys know that yesterday and (so far) today have been phenomenal. Zeus has been full of energy, bouncing around and smiling. His upper lip got stuck on his gums last night in the biggest, most demented smile ever. We laughed until we couldn't breath. Both mornings he woke me up by 6 am (he never will grasp the concept that the alarm doesn't go off at 5:30 am on certain days for a reason!)
I truly don't know what caused this latest setback or whether it was even related to the Metronidazole. Whatever it was seems to have passed, for which we are thankful! I can tell you that he will not take Metronidazole again, just in case. And, no, the recovery has not changed our minds about re-trying MP. We do not forget that easily, and I will not take the chance that he has the same reaction to another drug. So, he just gets to be a dog now. Well, a very special three-legged, smiling dog.
You guys really are the best and I thank each of you for the comments and well wishes!
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Rita sends nose-pokes to Zeus!
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman.
