SHE'S HOME!!!!!!!!!!!She's exhausted but seems happy. Lots of licks and tail wagging. And she's snuggled up in our bed.Â
Her neutrophils were up to maybe 1200? The only thing I heard was that she could come home.Â
They are emailing her entire chart on Monday.Â
Doc wants to see her for follow up Tuesday, but we are never ever going back there again.  Â
So, so, so happy she is home! Â Sending lots of love and good wishes!!

On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly. Â His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.
Just wanted to check in on Madison.
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016.  Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016.  Lung mets August 25, 2016.  Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016.  Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma. Â
Wherever they are, they are together.
Thank you all for your support this week! It was such a rough time for us.Â
Madison is doing great today! So happy to be home 🙂
yesterday she was panting a bit but overall good. This morning started with an upside down doggie! It's the first time she's rolled over since the surgery. She used to love wiggling on her back in the morning, so it was a big deal to see her figure that out today. She's been doing great hopping around but she does get tired quickly. I think we need to start from scratch with her cardio.Â
The vet sent us home with antibiotics (clavamox 2x per day) and prednisone (1x day for 5 days, then 1 every other day). She's been taking both, but each day my husband and I debate the prednisone. I don't know often she got it there, and I don't want to give her withdrawals. He doesn't want to give her anything unnecessary. We'll see how this goes.Â
Rolling over on tjeir back and getting a good scratch is ALWAYS a good sign!!.Madison is feeling good and, that makes everyone so happy!
The Pred could make her pant some...no biggie. I understand your concerns about Prednisone though. As my vet told me one time, even with all the drawbacks, there are times when jt can be a miracle drug. The every other day withdrawal is good. I know you just hate to wait another five days to do it! If you have concerns, give them a call and speak directly to the vet and see if you could maybe do three days in a row and then do the every other. Just throwing that out there.
I am just sooo thrilled Madison is home and F I N A L L Y getting back to NORMAL!! What an ordeal allmof you have been on! I'm sure she does tire easily right now. She's really been through a lot.
Thanks so much for the update! Huge grin reading this! 🙂
Hugs!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
I just love it when I see Otis upside down. Â He seems so care free, as if nothing in the world can possibly be wrong when you are upside down.
