Im going to throw this one out there and sit on it for the night before I look at the replys. Ive want to drop this one for a bit but I type slow and there was not a lot of time in the last few weeks...
The short story: about a year ago i found myself pinned under a mini van that had dropped off the jack. all i can say is im licky we had put the tires on before i crawled un it like an idiot!! heard cracking in my chest, couldnt breath for days Xrays showed no breaks, but ive been in all kinds of pain ever since. Im 48 , not like i didnt hurt before anyway. the meds i was taking didnt really do much for the pain unless i raised the dose . that turned out to be killing my liver and kidneys, acording to my pharmasist when i asked if there was something better. i started looking towards alternative pain methods. i recearched the crap out of this and found a lot of people chatting about Canabinoids. Specifically THC and CBD oils. there was all kinds of talk about possable ties to cancer remissions , ultsimers, epilepsy, crones desise, the list goes on. But there seems to be very little actual clinical recearch on it. I can say for myself it had made the pain in my life managable. If I get home late and just crash or forget to take it , ill have a bad sleep and wake up hurtn, without a doubt. in some of the posts I have read in the past few weeks I have heard at least a few people talk about including CBD in their dogs after surgury ongoing care.
Im very intrested in hearing what you all have to say on this topic, as I do value the honest opinions I get here. I have not heard any bad things to date for people using it , but there is very little chat about it in the dog world, or weather there is an adverse affect in the canine world.
My neighbor was just using Canabinoids for their dog who had an inoperable mass in the abdomen. It seemed to give her better quality of life for the last few weeks/months. Helped with her appetite. And, in the non medical form, it certainly was incredibly helpful to my human friend with primary brain cancer. I am definitely on the pro medical use side of the fence.

On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly. His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.
Geez, sorry you've nad to go through so much pain. Really glad to hear you are getting some relief now.
I can't give you any scientific data as far as dogs and cbd. I have seen it used a few times with dogs here. Wish I could recall the title of the blog where it seemed to help give ayou better quality to their dog.
All I can say is I'm for anything that helps take away someone's pain and gives them a better quality life
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
I haven't used it yet although I have been recommended it. If Zuki suffers pain further down the line I wouldn't hesitate to try it. As others have said, it seems to work so why the heck not!
Zuki Wuggafer 30/09/06 - 11/11/16. Right hind tripawd due to Osteosarcoma. He had a strong 5 and half months as a tripawd but unfortunately a secondary issue with his spine ended our battle. He loved life, loved our family and was the best dog I could ever ask for. Truly my first love, forever in my thoughts and heart.

We wrote an article about it last year:
Is Marijuana Safe for Dogs, Cats and Other Pets?
We have friends who use it for their dogs. The dogs don't get high, but apparently experience better sense of well-being, they're generally mellower according to their humans.
I think that there's still too many uncertainties though, and I especially wouldn't try it without the guidance of a knowledgeable holistic vet. There are more studied pain modalities out there without the uncertainties. Think: acupuncture, massage, cold laser therapy, etc.
Still, it's up to each of us to make the choice for our own dog, our own situation. I would never condemn anyone for giving it a try if they want to.

Didn't Debbie use this with Patches? I think her blog is called "Patches' Journey" or something similar. I would totally be on board with trying other options, but like Jerry said, make sure you have a knowledgable source guiding you. I feel there are a lot of things out there beside mainstream medicine. Good luck in your search.

Nitro 11 1/2 yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms. Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"

Thanks to all of you thats awesome. I'll check that link right now.
Ya, i don't want to try anything that is not 100% helpfull or at least best for hre comfort. i would only concider it for pain if it was getting too much for her. I'm wondering about the bodys "canabinoid system" in humans its what the brain and the rest of the body comunicate with , as i understand it anyway. its said that the THC molicule "fits" our brain receptors like it is suposed to or something. the claim by some is that it assists the brain in getting the message across the receptors and triggers the bodys own defences to atack anibodys etc. i dont know if the dogs body is the same in this regard. I can definatly attest to the pain relief and anti-inflamitory benifits, but want to dig deeper into these other possabilities.
I would hate to think that something like this would go un noticed because theres no money in its reasearch.
