Here is a valuable source about all the clinical trials for the vaccines. From my understanding is that one (AT-014) is a live vaccine that has conditional limited approval for use in a few clinics in the US as a clinical trial or for purchase and the other is a frozen form of the Listeria vaccine that is only available for clinical trial only. You can find the clinics that are part of either of the trials in the AVMA database that I have linked below. Some additional articles about each and clinics that are part of the AT-014 study.
My Miles, 8-yr old GSD is in the middle of getting a second opinion since I won't accept an 80% suspicion for a definitive diagnosis. Luckily one of the clinics in the Houston area is part of the AT-014 study and I have met with the oncology department there. They are sending his biopsy samples off to Texas A&M University for the most renowned osteopatholigist in our state to review and give his opinion. I have already scheduled the surgery for either a hip replacement or amputation next week pending the outcome of the new results. Then after chemo, I plan on getting my dog on the AT-014 treatments. Not sure how much it will cost or if my pet insurance will cover it but I can only try.

Hi and welcome! Thanks for chiming in and sharing that important information. Feel free to post it in Tips and Resources if you're able.
Meanwhile please consider starting a new topic all about Miles, so we can follow along with your journey. Yep, TAMU has a fantastic diagnostics lab, you're in good hands there. Let us know what they say!

Simon had his first of 2 vaccines today.. . last one is 3 weeks out... it is the egfr her2 vaccine.. different than the artana 014 vaccine.. The doctor that leads this is from yale.. He has mailed out a few vaccine series to those not close to CT. where most dogs are part of the trial.. vcc norwalk ct. No side effects noted as this vax didnt seem to have as many side effects at the 014 from artana.. there was no charge for this vaccine... though donations are accepted..

Is it correct that the dog has to have chemo in order to get the vaccine?
Usually for immunotherapy vaccine trials, yes, but it depends on if you are going to participate in a trial or not. When clinics are participating in trials, they sometimes allow clients' dogs to receive the vaccine "off study" but the client must pay the entire cost of treatment.

Fb page. Egfr/her2 vaccine patient support group
Apparently a closed group, not a verified page:

Not sure either of the admins are an official contact for information about the vaccine, but as good a place to start as any if no better details are available...

Thank you! Looking into it. Met with the oncologist yesterday and just am still not feeling like chemo is the right way to go with a dog who is almost 14. I know rarely side effects but for some reason still not feeling like it is right thing to do for him. I am struggling with this decision.
