Stella is hilarious! I think before the amp, her leg hurt, then after the amp, she hurt, but now that we're done with stitches and seromas and drain tubes, she finally feels GOOD! She runs so fast and has a "swagger" that I just can't describe. She and my husband have daily conversations (he makes a noise, she barks at him, he asks "what are you barking at?" and she barks again). It's very sweet.
We're taking her to the vet tomorrow for one-month post-op chest x-rays. I'm praying they will be clear, as they were when she was diagnosed at the end of April. If they are clear, we will go back to the oncologist to begin metronomic chemo. If there are visible mets, we will learn more about a study she will qualify for at Texas A&M. I, of course, want clear x-rays!!
Paws crossed for clear x-rays!!!

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Awwww! I'm so happy that Stella feels good. Isn't amazing how fast your sweet Stella came back? She's telling daddy all about how pawsome she feels!
All the best for the next phases coming.

Clear x-rays! Clear x-rays! Clear x-rays! Clear x-rays! We're thrilled that you're doing so well. Keep the great updates coming.

Tai – 9 yr old lab. Diagnosed Osteosarcoma Dec 18/09. Front right leg amputated Dec 21/09. Started chemo Jan 7/10. Lung mets discovered Sept 16/10. Valiant to the end on Oct 26/10 when cancer reappeared in a leg and we made the decision to set her free. Forever in my heart where not even cancer can take her from me.
I just realized I never shared the news---Stella's chest x-rays were still clear!! Our vet didn't see anything at all suspicious, which means Stella definitely doesn't qualify for the study at Texas A&M. As far as chemo goes...We are just going to let her BE. My husband and I have gone round and round, back and forth, this way and that way about it, and after talking to our vet and his assistant, we aren't going to proceed with the chemo. I am at peace with this decision. We have changed her food and are going to start her on supplements and just enjoy her and let her enjoy FINALLY feeling good.
Clear xrays! Treats for all!!! Woo Hoo!!!

Pawesome news!!!! Thanks for letting us know.
I hear ya on the reasons why you chose not to do chemo. It's definitely not for every pack. Now, get out there and have FUN! And if you ever have questions about supplements, our "Eating Healthy" forum topic and Nutrition blog are great places to turn to.
Three paws up for this great news! You're on your way to a hoppy life on three legs.

Hooray for clear xrays! That is pawesome news.
Congrats on reaching a decision as well. It's hard to know/decide what to do - but it's nice to have the decision made. Enjoy BEING with her. Hope you get to just BE with her for a long long time.
