Hi Everyone, I just wanted to let you all know that Levi is doing great. I actually went out for dinner with friends last night to celebrate the return of my Mental Stability
I feel like my life has been a mess since the 4th of July when Levi first went Lame. But anyway, He is getting around great. We have been doing 15-20 min jogs off-leash the last two days and he is sooooo happy to be getting outside again. I think the boredom was making him super depressed. His Chemo went great. He had no side effects whatsoever. He is eating his normal portions of food morning and night. No more canned food or hamburger and chicken breasts. YAY!
Our only issue right now is that he is obsessively licking to a point where he has huge red sores on his hocks. We had to put him on antibiotics because one started looking infected. I had to go buy a muzzle to keep him away from himself I'm hoping once he heals up everything will be fine. I can't figure out why he is licking so much...He was doing it even before his first round of Chemo. Leave it to my Levi to handle the hard things fine but come up with a new problem on his own...sigh.
Here is a video of us on our morning hike!
Levi was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma 7-7-11
Ampuversary 10-14-11
Lung Mets Discovered 1-4-12. Chemo seemed to not be working so we switched to Artemisinin and other supplements. In May, Levi developed a sinus infection and started having seizures. The cancer had moved to his brain. We let him go 6-26-12.
Ohhhh those first Tripawd hikes are SO beautiful! Congratulations Levi, on a spectacular recovery.
But please stop licking that leg so much, you don't have any spares! Could it be a seasonal or food allergy?

Wonderful update and video!
Sending you lots of "let's don't lick" wishes!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
What a happy hoppy baby!
Hope he stops licking soon! I was also wondering if it could be food allergies?
All the best,
Jackie, Abby's mom
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Hey Levi- you look great! Happy one month ampuversary!
And mom- happy return to mental stability!! What is your secret?
I told you before that my quad pug Obie licks obsessively- but I have been very fortunate that he has not injured himself. We have pretty much ruled out anything but his bad start in life- he has several other obsessive/compulsive behaviors. Can you distract Levi with a nylabone or other toy? Obie is much less likely to do the licking behavior when he is tired out- hopefully as Levi gets more active the licking will subside.
Really great to see him doing so well.

gosh, that video makes your heart sing!!! so glad levi is doing so well, what a handsome lad. sam, our monkeybrother, had a tendency to lick some when he first came here....we were given some tea tree oil 'hot spot foam' from "vets best" by trouble's mom...it seemed to be soothing, and he eventually gave up on most of the licking.. you might want to check into that, if you haven't already tried something of that nature. thanks for sharing your video, we'll have some extra cheese to celebrate levi's 4 week ampuversary!!
charon & gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
Happy 1 month, the video was great! He does look happy and it is a good thing to see. I think the mental stability night is also good to celebrate. These tripawds can turn you into a worry wart with a quickness.
