Fortis, we are so happy for you!! 10 months is incredible, even more so because you're fighting those nasty lung mets. How you can be so tough, and yet soo sweet and adorable all at the same time? I know Spirit Sadie totally had a crush on you, and although Athena has some monkeydog in her, she told me she thinks you're pretty cute too. Ranger is just jealous of your.....oh nevermind, we won't go there Here's to many more celebrations!
Lisa, Athena, Ranger and Spirit Sadie
Sadie is my 9yr old Rott/Shepherd mix. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right scapula 1/28/10. Our brave girl had her amputation 2/13/10 and her last chemotherapy on 6/6/10. Unfortunately, a tumor appeared in her back right leg and on 10/7/2010 Sadie's earthly journey came to an end. On 10/24/2010 we adopted Ranger, a handsome Rott/Lab mix tripawd (got hit by a car) I think Sadie sent him to us.

I saw that you had pulled this thread up and got tears in my eyes as I sat down to read it. I thought you were going to say something upsetting, but it turns out I am smiling through my tears.
Yay Fortis,Brett, and Fortis's Mom, I am so glad! Congratulations on 10 (you are in the double digits now) wonderful months. You are a champion, keep fighting the good fight!

I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us. Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.
Well, it really is hard for me coming in on the tail end of a celbration! I have to admit I went to bed early last night, and after the 4AM breakfast call went right back to sleep. You have no idea how happy it makes me that Fortis is doing well after the lung met diagnosis. That was a sad day in my life as I felt the pain of my new cyber-friend.
Brett, you guys have done so much good. Fortis gets great care and lots of special human time. He knows and keeps going and going - we may have to name him Energizer Fortis! (Need a photoshop of that one Comet!) I am happy to celebrate his wonderful 10th ampuversary. He is one lucky dog, and keeps lighting the way for others who will face the same Dx in months to come. Way to go big guy! Sending hugs and licks from our house to yours!

Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!

P.S. I want credit for coining that name for you when you become super famous!
Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog
Fortis - I just wanted to acknowledge here in the open forum that I also got caught up in the monkeydog tactics and posted monkeydog trash on your pawsome post about your 10 month ampuversary! I am so amazed at all you do and this post is indeed of utmost importance - first and foremost to you Fortis and your family, and secondly to all the newcomers and oldtimers as well here that look to you and others for help and inspawration! You are indeed a champion fighter Fortis!! HAPPY 10 month ampuversary!!

the monkeydogs only THINK they have invaded the tripawd state
Hey Coopers pack,
Thanks so much. Seriously though, humor and our tripawd friends (names need not be mentioned) are what have helped us get this far. Our pack is content and thankful for what we have been given and only hope others such as yours are blessed with as much. But thanks, your intent is truly felt. This is a wonderful and caring community and we all have our own unique and sometimes even peculiar ways of showing it. I'm in the peculiar category
Don't pay attention to me and what I posted to your thread. I get all paranoid and emotional at times. You and Coop are new here, I remember well those early months and all the fear and doubt that were constantly a presence. When I posted what I did to your thread it wasn't to lesson the humor but only to let you know that we all get it.
Thanks,
Fortis' Pack
Okay, enough with all that wimpy talk……………bring it on Monkeydogs! The only way is the tripawd way! Let the games begin
hear hear Fortis!! Bring on the monkeydogs!! WOOF!!

Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.

Unfortunately, it go along with everything else. From the very first month, I was sure my little girl was not going to make it past to the next, and her initial diagnosis did not help. We never had more than two months without some type of scare-the-pants-off episode. So paranoid and some short terse words are just part of the journey. You are also correct in saying the our companions demonstrate more courage and will to continue they I ever will possess.

PS: It was a Hawaiian Blizzard for the record, but it will be Baskin and Robbins soft serve for the One Year Ampuversary!

On this day three months ago Fortis had what is termed as a lung met burst. For two straight days he coughed up blood. Needless to say we didn't celebrate that ampuverary. It was indeed a scary time and one I felt surely spelled the end. That makes today that much more special. Fortis celebrates his 10 month ampuversary today. A celebration I all but had given up on. It has been almost 4 months now since Fortis was diagnosed with lung mets. I can assure you of this, it has been a great 4 months and lung mets have done little to dampen that. I thought I should post this here where others that are dealing with a similar issue may find hope. Today, I ask my tripawd friends to celebrate life with us and to remember those that have shown us the way.
Happy Ampuversary my friend Fortis.
