Hi Tripawd family
Well our Lylee has been having some breathing difficulties and a high heart rate. We wanted to make sure that she didn't have the added complication of a heart condition to her osa diagnosis. So off we went to the cardiologist to see what she said.
They did an ECG and an echo cardiogram (I requested to stay with her through out the whole procedure, her Dad was there too . The findings were that her heart is actually doing a great job (I always knew our girl had a beautiful heart) but unfortunately the lung mints that we knew she already had have gotten bigger. One of them is quite large and this is the main cause of her breathing problems together with the tumour also putting some pressure on her heart.
Thankfully we are able to keep her comfortable with all the great support from her hospice team. She is still enjoying her large assortment of super-duper treats, cuddles-on-demand, and still has her waggy tail and gives the occasional kiss (she has never been a big kisser but loves to have them). She has a special memory foam bed and stretches out full length on it! (Tripawd Warrior Princesses always do it in style)
On a really great note she celebrated her 15 month ampuversay on the 20th and will have her 13th birthday on October 1st!
Yay TWP Lylee Girl!!
Love and hugs to everypawdy

Happy Ampuversary Lylee!!!!!
And happy birthday too, wow 13!! You don't look a day over 10! And you have kept your girlish figure, even with all the extra treats.
Having met you I know you have a terrific heart. Keep that tail wagging for your mom.

Thirteen years is a grand old age for a dog. Happy Birthday! and Happy Ampuversary! Trouble made 12 1/2 and we really considered ourselves blessed to have had her with us so long.
Your news certainly was not what you wished to hear, but we all know there are no guarantees. No one can really predict how much time they have left. Live each day to its fullest and keep building those beautiful memories.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

Lylee, Happy Ampuversary & Happy Birthday! A double whammy like that deserves at least one Flying Dutchman. But probably you should get two. <img class="spSmiley" title="laughing" onclick="spjEdInsertSmiley('icon_lol.gif', 'laughing', 'https://tripawds.com/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/', '');" src="/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/icon_lol.gif" alt="laughing" /> After all, you do have two major celebrations occurring!! You are a pretty hot gal for being 13! I don't know how all those boy dogs resist you! Happy Birthday girl! I hope you have some really special celebrations!!
Maximutt has the right idea... An ampuversary AND a 13 th birthday definitely calls for a double Flying Dutchman!!
I'm sorry to hear the lung mints are worse. We hate lung mints. But we also could have told you you have a great heart.
Enjoy every moment together!!! Please give her some extra spoiling and extra treats from us!

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Booo to the lung mints, YAAAAY for a 13 year old Tripawd Warrior Princess!

Oh, Lylee, there is so much about you that is beautiful, not just your heart! Happy Ampuversary and Happy Birthday precious girl!
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...
