Benji has slight Atheritus and at the same time seems to be losing Protein in his Urine. Usually Rimadly would be a good answer but may damage his Kidneys. Does anybody know how else I can help reduce the pain in his joints due to the extra pressure. I will strat with hydrotherapy next week and Accupunture as well. Ws wondering if anybody else has gone through something simalar
We recommend you try duralactin. it's a natural based product which you can purchase through amazon.com.
Duralactin Canine Chewable TabletsDuralactin is a nutritional aid that contains a patented dried milk protein concentrate that is believed to help manage inflammatory conditions long term, and possibly diminish the need for steroids or NSAIDs.
our girl jane was 15 when she passed, and had been using this for over a year – really helped with her arthritis pain in hips and back. there's also a recent forum post from cooper's dad, where he talks about starting cooper on it as well. ask your vet about this, but we are positive it helped jane and is currently helping our neighbor's pup as well. good luck!

Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.

We gave Jerry Synflex Liquid Glucosamine for Dogs when he developed pain in his hips after the amputation. It is also a natural product, and we noticed an improvement in his mobility within a week or so.

I don't want to be an alarmist, but want to share what we faced. I don't recall Benji's age, and that will no doubt be a factor, but while we treated Trouble's increasing arthritis as it presented, I feel like trying to be conservative in treating Trouble was a mistake. If I had it to do over again, I would medicate more aggressively, and sooner. I had her on Dasuquin, but probably should have started her on it months sooner, and I waited until she was almost immobile to start the Adequan.
Arthritis is a hard complication to deal with. Good luck to you.

I would be careful using an NSAID if he has proteinurina but if his kidney enzymes (blood test) are normal then he may be able to tolerate a reduced dose. If you are seeing an acupuncturist they may have knowledge of Chinese herbs and there are many holistic treatments for arthritis.
Tramadol and gabapentin are other meds that can reduce pain and are both safe on the kidneys.

Thanks everyone. Benjis Atheritus seems to be ok and I have ordered Duralactin . He does not seem to be showing any signs of Pain which is good. I also have been giving him Cosequin and Fish oil for the past two years. His hydrotherapist does not think that his artheritus is a issue to worry about yet. Keeping my fingers crossed
