Hi all Tripawd peeps. Need some advice. My cat Henry (6 yrs old, Russian Blue) has been a Tripawd for about 5 weeks now after being diagnosed with osteosarcoma in his front right leg. They did lung scans and all was clear and we were told he doesn't need chemo. I've recently (past few days) noticed Henry dragging/sliding his back right leg when he walks, which is the same side as his front leg amputation. He doesn't seem to do it as much when he runs and seems to be standing on it fine so I'm not sure if it's just the funny way he's started to compensate for his missing leg when walking or if this is a bad sign...he's due for a checkup soon anyway but I perhaps want reassurance that I shouldn't panic!

Thank you!

Henry is a very handsome fella'!

My first thought is some type of sprain or tweek in his back from possibly overdoing it, jumping, compensation, etc. Do you have a rehab specialist in your area? Henry .may need some physical therapy. But yes, your vet maybe abke to pinpoint the issue also.

Try not to worry...yeah, right! But five weeks is still early in recovery and mobility adjustments are still taking pkace. I would try and keep him wuite until you can get to the vet though so he doesn't overdo.

Hang in there and keep us updated, okay?

Hugs!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

It's possible that it's an over-use injury as her adjusts to walking/standing/living with just three legs. his weight will be situated differently causing more stress on the remaining three legs.

I would definitely discuss it with the vet though- to be safe!
