I have a beautiful pit bull mix. He is 3 years old , and is the love of my llife. On July 4, 2007, he was hit by a van, and ended in amputating his rear left leg. He has made a miraculous recovery.
Well, when he goes outside with his other friend, they run off together. They always come home, but he's always really sore when he returns, which I know is due to using his only back leg so much. This last time, he ran off on 3/19/08, he has had this all over trembling effect. He shakes, trembles, and has this blood curteling scream. Im extremely worried. I dont have the money to run to the vet with every ache. Could you please help me.
Does he fall or avoid bearing weight altogether? That could be the sign of a break. 
My people always try to moderate my exercise, otherwise I too would just run myself ragged. I'd recommend giving your baby a rest from running and see if the trembling subsides. But if he is howling, it must be painful and should be looked at ASAP.
This could, however, be something completely unrelated to the amputation.
Hopefully he has just overdone it and will feel better with some rest. My people are not veterinarians, and they certainly understand budget concerns, but I know they would at least call a vet if I displayed the same symptoms.

I'm sorry to hear about your dog, but it is puzzling that he was hit by a van, (off-leash) and then you say he's out running around again, off leash and unsupervised.."run off together"...If you don't want to pay for vet bills, and you love him as you say, then you might consider supervising him, walk with him and generally keeping him closer to home. He's obviously hurting. You are his caretaker. Do so.

The trembling sounds more like shock or a starined muscle more than anything. Have you got a Hot/Cold Pain Relief Pack or a nice simple hot water bottle? Here's a tip for making your own heating pad - very soothing. Especially for lively pits. He's a tough little youngster, he'll pull through.

sounds like you have a lively one on your hands! Sounds like you are a terrific mom too. Now scout is only two weeks post amp but i will tell you he does have these yelps here and there that just don't make sense, like his head got touched yesterday. i think what it is saying is be careful, becasue something doesn't feel right.
Again human experience doesn't always correlate to dog experience, but i will say that several years ago I had a ton of lymph nodes removed and a partial mast. I am an avid exerciser, I run and lift weights and as much weight as I lift and do fine, every once in a while, for no apprant reason it is a huge ouch and swelling and ick starts up. Nerves are just weird things, even years later. But ice and heat help immensely for me, and it goes away in a few days. I'd imagine it's the same for anyone or pet.
I remember once when scout was a puppy, he swam out in the lake, he just kept going and it dawned on me as i watched him that he had no gauge of how long it would take him to get back and he was pooped. so I swam out to him and thankfully did so, as he started to sink I got him! I guess my point is dogs are great at figuring out what they can do, but not always the best gauge of when the overdo it part happens and they are a mile from home. So jerry is right, limiting activity is essential.
