I'm sorry to have to let all of you know that we decided to put Townesy down yesterday. 4 days ago he started having trouble standing on his remaining rear leg. It quickly got worse to where he couldn't stand on it at all, and he also started losing control of his bladder and bowels.

We took him to the vet and an x-ray showed he had a tumor on his remaining rear leg, something I've heard is rare when a dog has already had bone cancer in another leg. So there was really no choice but to let him go. It comes as such a shock, especially since just a week ago he was doing so well, having finally conquered going up the many stairs in our house by himself. I guess its a testament to his heart and personality that he did that while having a painful tumor in his leg.

He had a very good life in his almost 9 years, and never suffered from a lack of love, especially in the last two years since Karen joined our lives. He brought us vast amounts of joy and humor with his unique and very sweet personality. We were both with him as he passed away.

Oh no!  I am so sorry to read this.  Cancer is unfair to start with, now this...

You did a wonderful, unselfish thing for Townsey yesterday. I know it brings much pain now, but I hope you find peace in knowing it was the right thing to do for your boy.

Townsey will always live in your heart and so will always be by your side.

Oh, I'm so sorry to read this. I was wxpecting another positive picture update. This is just miserable. For something that is supposed to be rare, there seem to have been a couple of dogs who've had it fo to their spine and or leg.....so it must seems like, even thoughit's rare, it' happening.

Ayway Dan, I'm just so very, very sorry. The amputation definitely got you some quality time.....rime for more spoiling and loving thatn any dog could ever hope for.

IF it had to happen, Townes was being Townes right up to the end. And he was certainly surrounded by love that will always be with him.....and his love for you will always be with you.

NOTHING took away his spirit and NOTHING took away his joy in living. M goodness-----climbing stairs just a little bit ago!! Seemngly still getting better in every other way and just proving that othi g was going to stop him!

Darn' I'm must so very, very' very sorry. We all understand your devotion, love and your selfless gift you were able to give when needed most?

You will be grievig forever, but, eventually, the happy memoties that you and Townes....and Karen....created together will co e shining tnrough. Towne's brilliant light can NEVER be dimmed!

I rmeber one of your earlier videos where he was takig off like a rocket down a fence line and i to field....you were having trouble keeping up!! You could almost near Townes giggle as you were chasing him. What a fun boy!

Townes will always be with you and e would want you to think about nothing bt the good times. Can you let one of those good memories come to you now?
Is it the way he would beg for a treat? Oe the way he wiggled with joy everytime you came home after being gone five minutes?? Hold on to those happy times....that makes Townes happy.

Stay connected with us Dan. We are here for you. You are in our hearts.

Oh NO! Dan my heart just breaks, I can't believe this. Who ever would have guessed that this could happen so soon. I'm so very sorry.

I know how much he meant to you, and how hard it is to make these decisions. But Townsey didn't suffer, and you gave him the dignity he deserved. My heart goes out to you though, this is just never easy. Please know we are thinking of you.
