Hi there! I hope this video of Tonka shows up!

This video of the stairs was taken 7 days post amp. We are now at 10 days and he is doing fantastic! Still working on weight loss but doing great!clap

The first 3-5 days were the hardest. His biopsy came back Chondrosarcoma.

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Wow...I'm amazed at how well Tonka is doing.....Tucker still hates the stairs and he is four months post amp!

I love the photo of your daughter checking out the amputation site....no fear from her...just interest....what a healthy attitude she will have.

I SWEAR I saw him smile when he was halfway up the stairs and again when he got all the way down!  WAY TO GO!  He does have a lot of weight to move, but his mobility will get better with more practice and praise.  I love how his furry buddies also seem to encourage him...or treat him no differently, which is equally as sweet.  He's doing great!  YEY!

ps: I love the sprawl of dog beds, mattresses, and throw rugs!  Keep it up!  A NEW home decorating style that should catch on...

ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12.  Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ!  No side effects.  We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments.  He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors!  Our love. Our funny little guy!

Tonka says "Thank you...Thank you!"  as he takes a bow!

I was keeping him downstairs and sleeping with him there, so he wouldn't have to do the stairs. Then one day my kiddos left the kitchen gate open and Tonka made a bee line for our upstairs bedroom (where he usually sleeps). I thought since he was already there I'd let him stay and figure out how to get him down in the morning. That was the first night he stopped panting and crying and slept solid like a log. I don't know if it was coincidence or he just wanted his usual routine, but he's been content at night ever since.  I guess missing a leg and sleeping in the kitchen was just too much for him! It was almost like he had a huge sigh of relief when he reached the bedroom.  "Ahhhhhh.... this is where I want to be!"

Awwwwww, this is video, and your post above, just warms my heart on this chilly night in Virginia!

I found myself cheering for him..."Co e on TTonka, you can do it...come on!" I wanted to scream through the computer, 'GOOD BOY TONKA! Such a GOOD BOY!" I wouldn't be able to cntrol myself, I'd be hugging on him and immersing him in treats! Such a good boy!clap

His determination was really ulling at my heartstrings! This takes HUGE amo t of energy! HUGE! I was exhausted just watching him!

I love how his dog companions seemed to be helping him along, cheerng him on. clap

This just astounds me this early in recovery! Tonka was determined to get back to his routine and sense of normalcy. Just shows how important a cnsistent routine is.....a real sense of security for them.

Keep these videos and pics coming! You have a lovely pack! Tonka is so handsome!

Standing ovatuon going on over here!clap

I felt that Jackson's recovery improved when he was able to resume any aspect of his quad-paw routine: getting onto the couch, going up/down stairs, a little bit of tug 'o war, finally making it to some of his favorite bushes to pee on.

Yey, Tonka!
