File under: questions I never thought I would be asking! Ha! Our sweet Molly is one day post-op and so far is doing GREAT. We are so proud of her. My biggest concern right now is that first poop... I think she needs to go (she was ready to go outside and wanted to walk her paces around the yard) but can't quite figure out how. She has peed twice and was definitely more comfortable the second time. We are supporting her with a towel while she walks and pees. Does anyone have tips for the logistics of it, or how to help encourage her? Thanks in advance!
Molly's mom,

Ha, we have all been there. It may take a little while, the meds can make them constipated and trying to find that balance to do it can be intimidating!! Canned pumpkin is a great thing. It gets things moving and makes it easier so they don't have to struggle too much 🙂

Constipation is a common side-effect of most pain meds. A bit of olive oil in Molly's food can help get things moving, but careful what you ask for! Find many more helpful recovery and care tips in the Tripawds e-books library.
As Jerry's vet told us, when they need to go, they'll go. Some here have waited days before doing the happy poopy dance! But always consult your vet with any serious concerns.

And when she does poop, let us know!! We celebrate anything around here!!
When you feel co.fortable, try dropping the sling and walk away. That may help her do her bidnes while she thinks no one is watching! But yeah, as already mentioned, it can take several days. Glad shee peeing normally. Some dogs even hzve trouble with that for a day or two!!
Sending hugs!
