Well Storm had a bad day yesterday but has bounced back today - he never ceases to amaze me. For the first time since his surgery he met me at the bottom of the stairs when I came down, tail wagging and asking to go out for a pee. He has been a lot more settled today and has eaten well. There doesn't seem to be as much swelling today and there is virtually no fluid leakage so I can only assume that removing the drain caused the old man some discomfort.

He is negotiating the step out to the garden without any problems and today has allowed his little sisters to sleep near him - up until now he has been giving 'the look' which is enough to send them scuttling away. I'm lucky that they are so in tune with him as they are only 12 months old but definitely know their place lol. He is still trying to work out how to walk slowly, his back legs are all over the place, high stepping as they are going to fast for the front but hopefully they will all go in sync eventually.

We have an appointment with the oncologist booked, Thursday 20 August at 9.45am which is exactly 2 weeks after his surgery so I'm hoping it's not too soon as it is a long way to travel to get there but they seem confident that it won't be so we will see.

Happy to hear today is better for Storm....it really is one step forward, two steps back in this recovery. Stay positive and celebrate the little milestones.

Paula and Nitro

Nitro 11 1/2  yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms.  Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"

I'm so happy for you. It must have been sweet to see him up and wagging. Soon the good days will outnumber the bad days.

Active 10+ Pyr mix suddenly came up lame with ACL tear in left rear leg. Scheduled for a TPLO but final pre-op x-rays indicated a small suspicious area, possibly OSA, which could have caused the ACL tear. Surgeon opened the knee for TPLO but found soft bone. Biopsy came back positive for OSA. Became a Tripawd 9/18/14. Carbo6 with Cerenia and Fluids. Pain free and living in the moment. Crossed the Bridge on 7/12/15 after probable spread of cancer to her cervical spine. A whole lifetime of memories squeezed into 10 months. Here's her story: Eloise

STORM! Way to rebound good boy!clap

And btw, thanks for being such a good example of what we mean when we say recovery has "up and down days"! way-cool

My beloved Happy Hannah didn't meet me at the door for several weeks. She woukd be in her bed wagging and thumping that tail.like crazy, but just not ready for the full on greet yet. But boy oh boy, that night when she was there to greet me and continued doing so from that point forward..WOOF!! WOOF!! What a great moment!!

I know how thrilling it is to see Storm pick up some of his normal routines...SPECTACULAR MOMENTS!!!

Storm will work about mobility and he'll find his own natural stride. He will walk at a faster pace because he needs that extra bit of momentum for balance.

Because my Happy Hannah took her time recovering, I didn't start her first chemo until three weeks. I just felt like she needed a bit more time to get stronger. This sounds crazy...really crazzzzy...but I think she actually started feeling better after her first chemo!!!

Hugs to all!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too y

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
