So happy to hear!!! Tango for sure is a trooper!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
What a trooper you are Tango!! Such a brave, awesome boy!
Piper comes home tomorrow and I'm a little worried about our first night. It will upset me if he is crying 🙁 I know that has to be hard for you. Hubby may have to move out of the bedroom for a week 😉 He's less patient than I am 😉
Keep us updated on your boy! We're gonna be needing all the advice we can get over the weekend too I'm sure!

Good luck on your big day Piper, you are going to be great!
Rough night last night with Tango, he was restless and crying. But then this morning he had his first pee! Much rejoicing, and he slept for about 4 hours after that. So it's up and down over here, but we made it to day 3!

Our vet specifically told us after the biopsy and after the amp that one of the side effects of the anesthesia is crying. Zeus also cried the first night after each of those and then a little on the second night, but it didn't seem to be a 'pain' cry so much as a 'oh my gosh the room is sideways... and I see an elephant... and he's yellow..." cry. Good luck to both of you with the recoveries!

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

I promised I'd post the big milestone, so: we have poop! He looked quite proud of himself and had a celebratory sniff of the neighbour's yard.
He's figured out out to pee and poop really easily, I think hopping around for so long before the surgery made it second nature.
Going down stairs is a breeze, going upstairs is a nightmare that we are slowly figuring out. So far so good. Checkup with the vet tonight, so our momentous day ends with a car ride!
Hooorrray! Do the potty dance! Did you ever think you'd be so happy about a turd? hahahaha!
He will get stronger on the stairs, it just takes time.
Hope your car ride was fun. By any chance did it include a trip to the drive through for a hamburger? Yum!

Sounds good so far!
Tango is a rear legger, right? Up is harder and will take some time for him to get that back leg stronger. He is big enough though that I bet he will be doing it OK eventually.
Aside from folks who are in the midst of potty training their toddlers I have never been around a group of people who spend so much time talking about, and celebrating poop! (and it does include me).

Yeah for POOP! And Yeah for a cheeseburger after the car ride!! Glad to hear Tango is doing good. Rizzo is a rear amp and at times still has to stop and think about certain steps when she goes up. He will get it. Thinking good thoughts for you and Tango....
All the Best

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Back from the vet check and ordering burgers. Our surgeon was thrilled with Tango's progress; he couldn't stop smiling. I didn't cry, so that's good! My 6-year-old niece and 4-year-old nephew came for the trip, they have been bursting with questions. They were fantastic, very matter-of-fact with him,and disappointed that he didn't quite hop "like a rabbit".
Everything looks good so far, stitches out next Friday if things continue OK. AND we have still not died getting up the stairs, although there's always a chance I won't make it one of these trips!
Thanks everybody for getting us through this so far, I am so glad I came here, I feel like I've had all the best advice possible.
