Hi,
Just wanted to stop by to say a heartfelt thanks again for all the support and advice we've gotten here, and will no doubt be getting in the future!
I also wanted to give a little update on week 3. All Tango's staples are out, and he has been declared a champion tri-pawd by surgeon and vet staff. We've been increasing our walks a little everyday, and today we went to our favourite park and sniffed a lot, met new dogs, and suffered a humiliating defeat by a squirrel-which is our regular park routine.
Tango was much fussed over, and seems to consider losing a leg fair payment for all the extra pats, treats, and speeches about his bravery:)
We had one major set-back-but it was mine. Trying to make it down the stairs with stupid shoes, and an excited, still uncoordinated tri-pawd, I tripped over him and took a header, landing unconscious and upside down at the bottom of the stair 1 ambulance ride, 1 cat scan and 300000 Advils later, I am sporting the best shiner I have ever seen. When we walk down the street, I sense a certain fear and respect for the bruised lady and her 3-legged-dog!
Visits to the emergency room aside, we are getting there!

OH MY DOG! I'm glad you're OK. Maybe you should consider sporting a pair of PAWZ while you learn how to walk with a Tripawd!
Seriously though, its good to hear you are fine and Tango is doing GREAT!

OMD, I'm sorry to hear you took a header!! When we lived in our last house w/ the stairs, falling down them (while Abby darted around me) was a big fear of mine. I'm glad things weren't worse!
You two must make quite the battle-scarred pair!
It's good to hear that Tango is doing so well! Happy to hear he is being fussed over. That's as it should be!!
Jackie, Angel Abby's mom
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Oh no!!!! I am so sorry about your fall down the stairs!!! I'm so glad you weren't terribly hurt!!! Oh my!
In all the 12 years with Comet I was so worried she would fall and she never, ever, ever did! But........
I did!! It happened to me because of wearing socks on carpeted stairs. The scary part is I thought I was "bleeding out" or something serious. I thought my time had come! I found out that it was just that I triggered a reaction in the brain that makes your blood pressure drop and heart slow down....and you are close to passing out. In hindsight, it was funny...my death fall was really a passing out fall. And funny if you like paying for an ambulance bill. So, I totally feel for you! So glad you are okay! I'm sure it gave Tango a scare too!
It's nice to hear that Tango is doing well! We love good updates!
Wear those battle scars/bruises proudly!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
great to hear tango is doing so well - those pesky squirrels better watch out, one day, tango is gonna show them who's boss. glad you are ok after your fall, very scary. geesh, no pictures of the shiner to post???
charon & spirit gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
Ouch! You guys must make quite a sight walking down the street. The only falls I've had was when Magnum had 4 legs but they didn't end up that dramatically. Glad to hear Tango is doing well and staying upright on 3 feet!
Karen and Spirit Magnum
Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. My beloved heart dog, see her memoirs from Rainbow Bridge ...... http://princess.....pawds.com/
Hey all,
Thanks for all the kind notes-I have been on vacation and taking a computer break.
My shiner is almost gone, but I will try to figure out how to post a picture of it in it's glory. As well as Tango in his glory!
Tango had his one-month ampiversary today, he is doing great. We spent the weekend in the park, pretty much. Lots of rests, but in between rests, he chased some squirrels and went for several dips in the ocean-he loves to just sit in the waves and cool off, and this is the first time he's been able to do it in months.
Feeling very blessed for this new lease on normal life!

I will try to figure out how to post a picture...
We deleted your last post since the image link was broken. FYI: You can't embed images from private email accounts. Image files must be hosted somewhere publicly to display.
Here are instructions for adding pictures to forum posts. If you don't already share photos somewhere online, the easiest way may be to start a blog so you can upload them to your media library.

Sorry your having trouble posting photos, but the links you used above are not valid image file URLs. Valid image file links must end in gif, png, or jpeg to display properly. The links you pasted in the image URL field appear to be some sort of Snapfish render scripts.
Since you already created a blog for Tango, it may be easiest to upload the photos there and follow the instructions above again for embedding the images here in the forums. You can use the +New -> Media link in the grey admin bar at the top of your blog (if you are logged in) to go directly to your Media Library. If you need assistance, review the Help Videos for using your Media Library or post in the Tech Support forum and we'll be happy to help.

OMD! That is a major shiner!! You must really get some looks. (Do you have a hubby/sig. other? If so, I bet people are giving him dirty looks!)
If I tilt my head, Tango looks really good!
