Recovery from the amputation surgery was a rocky road for both Susie and me! But, 3 1/2 weeks later, we are both feeling better. Susie is still taking Meloxidyl (Meloxicam) once a day and Gabapentin once a day (at night). I am also giving her Famotidine once a day to counteract any stomach issues with the Meloxidyl. She is starting to relax, and so am I! Once she started taking the Gabapentin (it was prescribed to be taken every 8 hours, but she seems to be doing well on just one dose every 24 hours), she began sleeping better at night, stopped screaming with Phantom Limb Pain, and licks her remaining front paw much less.
I just figured out how to post photos of Susie via FB, so I hope you'll indulge me a little. First I'll post some pics of her prior to amputation. The first one is of her as an 8-week-old puppy (just two pounds!), sitting on Santa's lap.
Soooo cute! She has a great personality, it really shines through in the photos! And you two make a dynamite team.
Really happy you got the photo embedding process down, you're awesome! Just a head's up though: you can post multiple ones in a single Forum entry, you don't have to create a new one for each new photo. Just embed a photo, hit return so your cursor is underneath the photo, and then embed another one. Repeat as necessary, we love seeing her!
