Thanks for all the updates. You give us hope and an idea of what to expect. Yampa just diagnosed this week, after extensive tests will have his amputation on the 18th.
Please start a topic and tell us about Yampa. We'd love to give you a warm welcome all your own and offer encouragement for you and Yampa as you face surgery.

Just a quick update on Supai, we are 3 weeks post amputation. Supai is doing great, she loves going for walks again, we are up to 2 miles and playing fetch must of the time. Thank god for peanut butter, otherwise it would be impossible to give here all of here supplements and vitamins.
Hope you and your friends had a great Christmas
Shaun & Supai
Thanks for the update! Glad to hear a positive post. Hugs to Supai.

Way to go Supai! It was great to read this thread to get more data to compare to where Gerry is at in his recovery (Day 11). Thanks for sharing! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
Gerry has been a tripawd since 12/16/2009.
He was a shelter dog with a mysterious past and an irrepairable knee injury.
Videos and pics of Gerry's pawesomeness can be found at: http://gerry.tripawds.com
Thanks for the great update! Keep up the good work, Supai!

I am looking at a calendar and can't believe it was 6 weeks ago today that I brought Supai home after her amputation. Things are going well for us. We are into a pretty good routine now, she is talking all of her pills thanks to peanut butter. Her walks have plateaued at 1.5 miles she love fetching Wilson (her tennis ball). Three times I have added some distance and each time she becomes lame after wards, not surprising given she now hops. The good thing is she is tired afterwards, she eats her diner, we do the pills and she is off to bed. And man does she look comfortable! I wish I was around during the day so we could take several short walks with the tennis ball instead of the one long one in the evening.
Supai's spirits are great, she has lots of energy and she is smiling a lot, I have to keep on reminding myself that she is sick. Last week I had to take our other dog to our primary vet so I brought Supai. Thought it would be chance for a social visit and get her weighed. I have been a client of my Vets for 25 years, I am friends with everyone and we do things together outside of the office. Supai usually bounces out of the truck, burst's into the office and right for the scale where she pants her but and waits for me to say OK. Not today, it took me almost 5 min. to coax her out, she walked in with her tail down and when inside full body shakes. Even when her friends gave her a treat she just spits them out. This was a big concern of ours and why we decided not to do chemo. The good thing once we walked out of the office and Suapi got into the truck she rebounded.
Next week we have a re-check with our Holistic Vet, the good things is Supai get's to come to work with me for the day.
Hope all is well with and your Friends.
