Thank-you Karen for the links...I have been reading everything I can find on MRSA since this is not something I have dealt with before...it is scary how some infections are becoming unresponsive to most of the current antibiotics.
Sally, it is so sweet of you to take time to send support with all you have going on with your own furkids right now. Sending love and hugs right back at you from Sketchie and me.
And Michelle, many thanks for the prayers and good wishes.

Oh dang! Just catching up, I'm really sorry about the lab results bult yes, your vet sounds wonderful and very, very sharp and on top of things. It's when vets wait too long that this gets out of control. Unfortunately we are seeing it more and more over the last few years but dogs have such a way of bouncing back. Stay strong, follow all the MRSA protcols and things are gonna turn out fine.
Keep us posted. I'd like to do another MRSA article soon, this is just insane that it keeps happening but obviously more folks are encountering it so we need to prepare just in case.
Lotsa love coming your way!

Oh, there is my boy! The antibiotic that eventually worked for Ty was Amicacin. I had to inject it subcutaneously. He also had a drain placed. The fact that he has no fever is a great sign. It took much longer than 5 days to get him a culture. Then another 5 days of waiting for results. Sounds like you are steps ahead of the game. Lori, Ty & Gang
TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
Thanks, Jerry. I will post updates on Sketch with what doesn't work... as well as what hopefully will work. I suspect we are going to see more and more of these super-bugs that are resistant to treatment...antibiotics have been so over used and sadly we are paying a big price for that. Just picked up some Chlorhexidine shampoo (4% Chlor. plus 1% hydrocortisone)from our vet to be used on Sketch 2x weekly.
He is such a gentle soul and is putting up with this new development like a trooper...couldn't ask for a better boy.

Wow, just now catching up on everything. Poor Sketch! And poor you!!!
I never really thought about us humans being the carrier of these diseases, but it certainly makes sense.
Keeping you guys close to my heart!

Harmony became a Tripawd on 10/21/14 (MCT). She left us way too soon on 11/1/14.
