Hi.  I have really found this site to be helpful.  My greyhound will be undergoing a front leg amputation this week or next and the questions I have have nearly all been answered just by reading this site.  I do have one other question, though.  We have at minimum 14 steps to get out of our apartment.  I plan to order a harness for Blackjack, but that obviously won't work for the first couple of weeks while he is healing.  Any suggestions?  Thanks!

Hi Nancy,

I wish I could help you with the stairs issue, but we live in a ranch home and my hubby built a ramp on the only steps we had, two that go outdoors, many years ago for an older greyhound with LS.

Many people here are VERY helpful with questions you will have & I can help with greyhound questions as my Calamity just had her amputation 11 days ago.

Can you make a strecther to get him in the house? As for going to the bathroom you may want to use a towel as a harness. Can you carry him? I would get some pee pads for the days you don't think he may be able to hold it until he gets down the stairs. The harness isn't good until after his surgery site has healed. Check out a couple of other stories some people have put some ideas on here. Good luck Blackjack let us know how it goes
