Got me smiling over here😁 So glad your Mom and the beautiful Sasha are here to help out. And Sasha is a tripawd too?? WOW! So you already had a heads up on how happy a tripawd can be!
It's still so early on in recovery and to hear how well Sophie is doing already is such good news!! I'm glad she knows she needs to rest to continue healing. Smart doggy!
Sophie gave me a little chuckle when she ate her dessert of ice cream first, and then turned her nose up at hamburger 😂 Smart girl!
Keep these good updates AND cute pictures coming!
Hugs

Awwww! Sasha is a dream girl! How insane that your mom has a Tripawd too. What a way to bring the family together!
Glad to hear Sophie's getting that spunkiness back. Keep doing what you're doing, monitoring her activity and making sure she doesn't overdo things. It's normal to be overly observant of our new Tripawd's behavior, try not to worry, I'm sure she was just tired from the excitement and wanted more ice cream instead of real food (sssh, don't tell Sally I said that ice cream isn't real food 😉

Yes, I have seen Sasha’s recovery, and it’s been a real comfort to me. Of course, with Sasha, there wasn’t the added worry of cancer, and she’s considerably younger (only 5!).
Sophie seems to get a little better every day. She’s getting some of her spunk back, and her appetite as well. The seroma is gone, the bruising has faded considerably, and I’ve seen her wagging her tail more. Also:
OMD she's smiling! Just seeing your story now, way to go!!!
And how pawsome is it that you have the amazing support of a family member that understands 💖
I am so happy that things are going well. You have gotten the best advice, and you have this under control, and your puppy is GORGEOUS!!💖💖

Tripawd Warrior Princesses! Too cute. I imagine that Sasha is telling Sophie all kinds of tips about life on three legs.

Checking in with a pupdate: Sophie continues to do well. She got her stitches out several days ago and everything looks good at the incision site. She’s off the pain meds and has completed the course of antibiotics, but still feels entitled to peanut butter crackers at medicine time! Mom and Sasha went home Friday, and I think Sophie misses them (yes, even Sasha, though Sophie will never admit it).
She’s handling normal stairs just fine, but I can’t get her to use the steps up to the bed yet. I bought a set of steps for her a year or more ago, since my bed has a tall mattress and I didn’t want her to have to make that big jump as she is getting older. So, she had been using the steps before the surgery, but she can’t seem to figure them out with three legs. I’m working on the same training process (lots of encouragement and treats on each step) that I initially used to train her to use the steps, but progress is slow.
Also, now that Sasha has left, Sophie seems less excited about going out and doing her business. She doesn’t ask to go out as often as she did pre-surgery, though I still take her at the routine times that I always have, so maybe that’s enough for her.
I gave her her first post-surgery bath yesterday, and that went just fine. She doesn’t love baths, but she tolerates them. (Secretly, I think she likes the attention!) She’s enjoying a Sunday afternoon nap right now:
Oh my goodness.....is she really just totally flaked out? She almost looks like she's in 'mid-roll' or something like that!
So glad to hear that she is doing well and only a couple of weeks out to boot!
George could do with a bath....he was sorta kinda due for one anyway but I just ran out of time before surgery.
Pawsome update, thank you!! She looks totally smoochable ❤️❤️❤️

That picture is priceless!! I think she's learned nap times are far more fun than going outside and "exercising"! She still has some adjusting to do as far as muscles, etc. And that usually takes a good month. Walking on three legs is more tiring than on four, that's for sure! On top of that, it's srill early in recovery!
Peanut butter crackers tonight for everybody 😁😁😁

Awww Sophie, you know how to make the most of spaw day. What an adorable photo, it makes me want to chill out and relax too 🙂
Relearning stairs is a challenge when you're on three legs, but I know you'll figure it out. You have a great mom who is so patient and smart, both of you will get there in no time.
More peanut butter crackers! YAY!
