I updated Chance's blog in case ya'll don't see it there. taynam.tripawds.com. He had his 3rd round of carboplatin on friday and so far he has done well. He did have one episode of diarrhea this morning, so I gave him the flagyl that was prescribed at the first visit. He's still eating well and has alot of energy. One question though, and I hope this doesn't gross anyone out. He's had HORRIBLE gas! Could that just be from an upset stomach? I mean it's so foul I have to hold my breath! Anyone else experienced this?

Chance is a 10ish Shetland Sheepdog Mix who was rescued from the shelter in January of 2013 and diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in September of 2013. He had a front left amputation and 6 rounds of carboplatin. He had a great 11 months and was diagnosed with lung mets on 8/23/14. He was released to the bridge on 8/28/14.

I love the blog update. Folks be sure to hop over there to see what snazzy moves Chance is making, he's so hoppy about his great report!

Gross us out? Oh gosh never. Nothing is too gross for this community! The flagyl should kick in and get it under control, I'm betting the gas is due to the diarrhea which is likely due to the carboplatin. Others with more experience being on carbo can share their own stories but I do believe that gas is one common side effect. Hang in there and keep some air freshener handy!

Looking good Chance.  I'm glad you are handling the chemo like a champ.  And what's a little poot-tootin' among friends.  I'm sure you are very proud (aren't all boys?) that you can evacuate a room.

Way to go, Chance! You keep it up!

Is Chance eating the same things he normally does? We have found (especially with Gus) that a change in diet causes "green fog".

Kathi and Murphy

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

I actually did change his dog food last week, which did cross my mind. I didn't have enough of the other to taper it to the new kind so that could be what it is.
