Hi Everyone. So we took Jilly to the vet and the vet said he is 99% sure her lymph node in her chest is swollen from the cancer and he took xrays and found small lung mets. They are almost not even visible, but they are there. So I'm wondering if anyone in this position found anything that worked to slow the growth down. I found this on pathwithpaws.com:
- The first and most important comes in a little vial and is called Sanshedan ChuanBeiYe. I use this formula for any cancer in the lungs or that has the potential to move to the lungs.
- Xhu Fu Zhu Yu Tang is good at moving blood away from cancerous tumors in the lungs and chest, leading to better lung capacity and a shrinkage of tumors. I usually make mine up with E Zhu and San Leng which are extra cancer fighting ingredients.
- Xiao Chai Hu Tang is another formula I often use for lung metastasis. It also helps to kill cancer cells other places in the body and can reverse symptoms that often times lead to death.
I'm wondering if anyone tried these three combined? Right now we have her on:
Sanshedan ChuanBeiYe: 1 vile 2x a day
Previcox 227mg (she has arthritis in her legs and now apparently spine 🙁 ) : half a tab in the am
K9 immunity plus: 2 tabs 2x a day
CoQ10 200 mg: 1 cap 1x a day
Omega 3 1,000mg per cap: 2 caps 2x a day
Artimisinin 100mg: 1 cap 2x a day 11 days on 3 days off
Milk Thistle 250mg: 1 cap 2x a day
IP-6 500mg: 2 caps 2x a day
Glucosomine/Chondroitin/MSM: 1 pill 2x a day
B.S.S.T: 26 drops 3x a day (or 2x if I forget )
Rx Biotic: 2 scoops 2x a day
MUSH: 1tsp 1x a day
Tramadol 50mg: 1 cap before bed
Golden paste: 2x a day, sometimes 3 when I remember
Wow! That feels like a lot but it's just become a ritual now! LOL And everything was proscribed or okay'd by our holistic and regular vet.
I didn't start this regime until about 3 weeks after her amp because we weren't sure it was osteosarcoma. So I don't know if the mets showed up before I started this or after so I don't know if it's working. However, there was nothing in her lungs when the xrays were taken 2 days before her amp and that was on 3/5/15. So it's hard to know what to keep doing since I don't know what happened when if that makes sense. 🙂
Also, she is fed Honest Kitchen Kindly with shredded chicken 2x a day and she is 55lbs.
I'm so sorry to hear that, I know that getting that kind of news really knocks you over. Remember though that Jilly doesn't know what the vet said, she is just living life one day at a time as always and she wants you to be happy.

Let me ay right off the bat, your love and devotion for Jilly jump off the page! She is v ery, very loved and she knows it!!
I hope others can chime in with more Insight into the holistic choices. I did use some ot the things you mentioned. I know mushroom therapy is even used by "conventional" vets sometimes. And yes, it makes perfectly good sense trying to determine what's working and what's not.
As f ar as being barely visible, I know it's certainly not the news you want to hear. At the same time, the fact that they are so very small AND the fact...very important fact...Jilly is feeling just fine!!! When my Happy Hannah developed met, she really wasn't having any horrible symptoms. At the time, the vet said the met was the size of a basebll. The point I'm trying to make is that these "things" not bothering Jilly at all. IF they do grow, it woukd probably be a very long time before they started bothering her.
Jerry certainly loved with mets and had no problems for a very long time!
He did do metronomics which is worth checking into.
This "diagnosis" has not affected Jilly in any way and she is not worrying about a thing! She is only loving in the NOW and that is where you must stay too. Yes, do your research, but make sure you let nothing interfere with your time together. Do not spend one second worrying about what may or may not happen...they causes you to miss out on the joy of being with Jilly now!
You are doing a great job of staying positive! And right now, there is no reason not to be!!
Sending you hugs and love!!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
I don't have experience with treating lung Mets, but I do know that we have a pony that bords at our barn that is doing the mushroom therapy. She has a very unusual type of cancer, can't remember the very long name, but the vet seemed to think a prognosis time of 6 months. She had her surgery to remove her cancerous eye close to a year ago and is showing no signs of even being ill. I really think her " mushrooms" have something to do with it. I am sorry you got this news. Jilly, however has no idea anything is different. Sounds like you have done a lot of research.

We had tiny mets .... BUT we proceeded and moved on since Shelby didn't know about her darn mets!!! I am so sorry you're facing this. We didn't go long w/the mets (cancer went into Shelby's brain) but I know others here have had success and longer journeys with the mets.
Sending you love and healing energy !!!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

I didn't ask her yet. I was trying to see if anyone had luck with those. I feel like I'm giving her to much so I wanted to see if maybe I could use the listed herbs and cut out some of the pills.

Thank you so much! I keep having to remind myself to keep the researching to a limit. I learned with her original diagnosis that I am really consumed by the info online. I am hopeful size they are so tiny. I'm going to see if the vet can email me a copy of them so I can pay them. 🙂

We use a Suppliment called MUSH which is different mushrooms blended toGether. I'm hoping that maybe the mets showed before we started the Suppliments and maybe everything is helping. Wishful thinking!
I had a cat with malignant melanoma and was told it would spread to his lungs and he would cough. I came to love that sweet little cough because I knew he was still with me. The cough didn't bother him and was bothered more by the growing skin tumours that couldn't be removed (they were itchy).
My tripawd cat Mona is on Power Mushrooms. The mushrooms are to support her immune system and possibly slow the growth of any additional tumour. With her type of cancer it spreads by tiny tendrils so either we caught it all in the leg amputation or we didn't.
We all hope that any additional supports with make a difference. Perhaps it does and gives us more time together. You've done everything you could. It's obvious Jilly had the best of care and lots of love. Enjoy Jilly, she'll let you know when it's time for her to sleep.
Wishing you peace and strength,
Kerren and Tripawd Mona

Oh! I am so sorry to hear about Shelby. What type of cancer did she have?

That is true about the cough! Jilly is not coughing yet. He said that they are so small that we wouldn't notice any symptoms.
I wonder if power mushrooms is similar to MUSH which is a mushroom supplement?
Sorry I am just seeing this now...
I, too, found a lot of comfort in pathwithpaws.com, and have Mac on the following regime (he doesn't have mets yet but my thought is to keep the mets at bay or keep them small), based on Dr. McCullough's website recommendations:
- 1 tube of Sanshedan ChuanBeiYe twice a day. We got syringes and we put it into his food bowl after he eats and he licks it all up because he loves the taste (it is very syrupy). (http://www.mode.....nbeiye.htm)
- 1/2 tsp (scant) of Artesmisin twice a day. I just sprinkle it over his food and he has no problem. Do it for 11 days then give 3 or 4 days off, then start again for 11, etc. (http://www.mode.....8;CartID=0)
- 1 pill of Turkey Neck mushrooms twice a day. I put this in his food and he eats it just fine. (http://www.mode.....8;CartID=0)
Mac is about 70 pounds, so that is why we did those doses. He also just started his chemo. At this point, there is no way for me to tell whether or not it is helping, but I believe in Eastern medicine (along with WEstern), so I think it can only help. Our oncologist said it's fine and doesn't think it will react with the chemo.
Hope that helps a little...
We adopted Mac in June 2014 from the GRCGLAR and he is our little baby boy, despite the fact that he is 11.5! Almost a year of bliss turned into complete devastation when he started limping on his front right leg and it was discovered on April 16, 2015 that he has bone cancer - specifically Osteosarcoma. We were luckily directed to Tripawds by our oncologist, Dr. Avenelle Turner, which changed our lives and guided us through the amputation process.
Read more about Mac's incredible story on his blog: http://teammac.tripawds.com/
Nice of you to share Mac's supplements. Yeah, I agree, a merger of the East and West can do some good.
HUGs to Mac and HUGS to Jillu!
