We are now 24 hours out from surgery to remove her right front leg. One of the overnight vets called to say that she did pretty good overnight. They are weaning her off the morphine today & switching to oral pain meds. He said they want to keep her one more night to be sure they can control her pain well with the oral meds. He also said she ate breakfast just fine (she's never missed a meal so that's no surprise! She's my piggy)
Went to visit her during my lunch break. They have a bandage around her whole front chest & it's covered with a mesh bandage on top of that so I didn't see the incision. Probably for the best since that may have upset me. She did nothing but whine and talk the whole time I was there. I gave her a break from the cone of shame and gave her lots of love. I really can't wait to get her home.
WELCOME ALMOST HOME SIERRA!!!!
Yeah, my Happy Hannah was quite whiny for the first couple of days. In art, it's all the drugs, especially whn morphine is involved
YAY for eating!!! That's a big plus!!!
Hang in there!! We're cheering for Sierra! 🙂

Super hoppy to hear that great news! Take things slow, and remember that rest is medicinal.
We can't wait to see photos. Let us know if you have any questions.

Sounds like she's doing great. Beware of day three when the hospital pain meds can wear off. Since it's Friday, you might want to discuss with your vet how you might respond to that if necessary, and not have to bother them over the weekend.
We used a pillowcase as a sling for Casey (another front amp) for a day or two, but quickly moved to just supporting him by the top knot on his T-shirt. That seemed to distribute the pressure really well.
